I'm also interested to see where the latest Trump collusion goes. They've actually started impeachment inquiries but from what I've seen it's a slam dunk to any right thinking mind.

However right thinking minds seem to be in short supply just now.

And Trump seems to be just standing there going: "So, he mentioned the military aid we had suspended. I mentioned I wanted a favour of some dirt on Biden. What exactly is your problem with that? That's not wrong. That's politics and business. I haven't crossed a line."

"The bombers don't make sense!"

And I don't get that argument.

AT-AT Walkers make no sense. Lightsabres make no sense. Capital ships make no sense. Death Stars make no sense. The small arms make no sense. Nothing in Star Wars universe makes much sense if you give it more scrutiny than the story needs you to.

But AT-ATs especially make no sense. But they look cool as, obey the imaginary rules the filmmakers set out for them,  and serve the thematic storytelling of the scenes they first appear in. As do the Bombers.

My question becomes "Why is that no longer enough for movie audiences?".

Just thought I would necropost this old thread (obviously before LAST MOVIE WATCHED and CURRENT BOXSET ADDICTION) because it shocked me when I realised BSG remake and Deadwood were 15 years ago.

But say the base just had a code name. I doubt your average grunt (pilots and bridge crew excepted) could have pointed it out on a star map.

I remember being served a Burrito the size of my head in California. Server couldn't believe it when I kept asking for less of everything.

"But it's the same price?"

"And will go to waste either in your bin or, more likely, on my waist".

...which crashed into the almost invulnerable shield lock, leaving it wide open for the transmission to make it out.

I loved the way that wasn't just a pointless cool bit of action and sfx but moved the story resolution forward.

Oh, I'd forgotten that. Be trick not to make it too relentlessly grimdark given where he starts Rogue One. But I'm sure they can manage.

Yes, I enjoyed that. Had volume pumped up because I had the house to myself.

The first hour and a bit still drags slightly but has the advantage of me noticing more character bits that I missed on my first viewing.

I like the way Jyn and Cassian (great character, shame we won't see more) become a team towards the end. And Jyn is not the passive knockabout somevreviews would have you believe.

I'm softer on the fan-wank stuff; it just flies through scenes now as opposed to pulling me out of them. Same with the CG characters.

But the Darth Vader in lava castle scene still feels like a cosplay/fan film of Vader.

Donnie Yen is just great as Chiwoot (sp.)

The ending (final assault on the castle) IS a bit flat though. Played relatively straight (from what I recall) and as a result all of the OTT staging and acting seems just that without gags to support it.

Still liked 'em though, despite faults.

It felt to me that they had watched TOO MANY.

I think he was being sarcastic. And like Prof. Farnsworth, good news is never that.

It will be billed as a remake - same as DREDD.

Ricky Gervais is often a dick but had the right attitude about The Office (America).

Along the lines of: "I can't complain about changes they've made. That would be like selling my house and complaining about the way the new owners have decorated it.".

How long before the first petition and kickstarter to "realise George Lucas' original idea for the sequels"?.
Stretch Target: $450,000,000.
