From what I have been told by various droids, in terms of ownership, when Rebellion bought 2000AD the contracts that droids signed to work for Rebellion included handing over all rights to ALL past 2000AD (at least) work.

As Alan hasn't worked for Rebellion then this is the grey area that exists.

But, as always I'm sure Alan wouldn't bother suing Rebellion if they did manage to get anyone else to have a go at Halo.

Ian was trying to get Alan's blessing on Book 4 that he (Ian) has written but without sucess.

Heyho I'm sure everyone that's involved will have a different view on this!

Mind you how they went through the creative process for Halo was always my favourite bit!

Anything that Gibson did that was signed Q-Twerk or Emberton was when he was working or playing in a band during the day and drawing in the evenings or at night and from the sound of it not sleeping for a couple of years.

Not that he sleeps much now!

He never really rated that work (like most artists they aren't convinced they are any good!) so signed it with different names.

Can't believe if we are talking about quality artwork no one else has mentioned Simon Davis...

A lot of the names people have been mentioning have been trained artists as opposed to Comic Strip Artists (que whole discussion on the differences) not that either is wrong.

Again it all comes down to personal preference which means from my point of view Carlos isn't on the list as I don't overly like his work, although he is instrumental in defining the look of 2000AD.

Another way to look at it would be to see who has the most pages published... and I would have to hazard a guess (how ever unpopular) that Anthony Williams would have a high page count, although not a name that would probably be on anyones list for best. A great artist for Tharg though due to his output.

So in no particular order...

Old School - Gibson, Ron Smith, Massimo, Bolland, Gibbons, Colin Wilson

Mid School - Weston, Arthur Ranson, Bryan Talbot, Mark Harrison (sometimes), Simon Bisley (very rarely), John Burns

New School - Simon Davis, Simon Fraser (sometimes), Boo Cook, Simon Coleby

There are loads of others almost there, and its almost a disservice to all the great artists that 2000AD have had in the past to try and pick a few personal favourites..

Pearleman for JD.........

And like CF says, sign me up for a crowd scene, like THEY PROMISED if you invested in the first attempt... you can tell I'm not bitter at all.

Pete, you'll need more than a cricket box!!!!

If you look at Comicartfans you will see a list of the artists that I have published pages from.....

As I am still trying to sort my obsessive compulsive collection out (something Commando Forces knows all about I'm sure!) I haven't had time to upload many pictures yet.

Also how many people have their art collection insured to the proper degree? up to £50K seems reasonable but once you get above that it sky rockets!!!!!

Another vote for Ron Smith here, he just made it all so believable I guess.

In terms of colour Dredd now thats a different kettle of fish, not sure anyone has convinced me yet that they own the colour rights so far. On other strips yes but not Dredd.

Yes we are too old, BUT 2000AD should have stopped years ago like every other comic......

Can't say anyone's every asked me why? hopefully its because I scare them too much, well here's hoping anyway!

Golf? Rufus I'm ashamed of you, you'd have to cover up then and that would be no good at all.

Pit fighting with chainsaws! who's with me?????

 8-)

I think Dale has sold some of them, I bought a couple more pages from him but he did say he wasn't putting much more up on ebay for some reason.
