"The cross over stories should be reprinted individually (ie 2000ad in Case files and Megazine in whatever form they take), and again in books that contain the complete stories. That way people have the option to buy both, neither, or whatever takes their fancy."

Mm. But then you have the problem of the Case Files omitting, say, Judgement Day, on the basis that it has crossover elements.

Bear in mind that although the Case Files was initially conceived as a 13-book run, that doesn't mean things will necessarily pan out that way. Strontium Dog was originally supposed to be a line of standard trades, for example, but we now have four chunky volumes. Red Seas and others were initially released in hardback, but have now been reissued in softback, sometimes with extra content. The point being that things change. There's nothing to say Dredd won't continue being collected right through the dodgy years, past The Pit, and beyond. The main problem will likely be any decision on whether to integrate the Meg stuff, or just leave it with 2000 AD material. (Personally, I'd also bung The Dead Man in the appropriate place, but that's not strictly a Dredd tale, so...)

Unbelievable on two counts:

1. Lazy, inaccurate journalism that could actually do real harm to another publisher.
2. Lazy, useless website elements, which make it impossible to post a comment. (I tried, using three different browsers on two different platforms.)

I sent nice, polite emails to the technical team and the editor, so it'll be interesting to see whether they do anything about it. (I also emailed the chaps at Rebellion.)

I make the reboot at just over 200 pages. There have been books that size in the Rebellion line, but two colour volumes would seem more likely, if VCs gets that far in reprint.

I'm also selling off a collection from Prog 1 through to 800ish. The quality is very variable (appalling for Prog 1, but pretty good for later Progs), but drop me a line if you need to plug some holes.

For some reason, the post I made earlier vanished. Anyway, I have a collection from Prog 1 through to 800 that I'm going to offload soon, and so if you have any holes, let me know. Quality varies from awful (Prog 1) through to rather lovely indeed. Most of the issues post-100 are at least in the 'not bad condition' category.

"Isn't the printing of Warriors Dawn the same quality as the first (DC) release?"

The scanning/repro quality is the same - the McMahon stuff is a tad faint, and some of the Belardinelli pages look like they could do with a contrast boost, because the lines are very wispy. However, the paper quality of the new version - like most current Rebellion trades - is a hell of a lot better than the old DC/Rebellion collections.

Robo-Hunter's still on hiatus, it seems. That might change in the unlikely event of loads of people suddenly buying the first three books, but don't hold your breath.

"before getting some kind of Anderson Casefiles"

I did ask Jon ages ago whether the Anderson trade line would be rebooted, a la Dredd. The answer back then was no, and the new book appears to confirm that. Good to see more clasic Sláine's on the way, though, and that the Dredd chunky volumes are continuing.

It's probably an old cover, then. Seeing as I don't have the book yet, I can't tell whether the cover's right or not. If it's not, I'll hassle Jon for a replacement cover once the actual book shows up.

It's definitely there. Chances are, your browser's caching things for dear life. Try a force-refresh (Alt+F5 usually/Option+F5 on Macs) on the relevant pages.

Random Man's a shame to miss, too, what with its fab old-style Ezquerra art. Strange that Anderson's not being done in 'complete' stylee, but there you go. I guess if it bothers people to miss so many stories, they should write to Jon. I've no idea if he's started sourcing material for Shamballa yet, but it's always worth making (constructive) comments on provisional content.

Regarding the Books microsite, the covers have all just been updated, and so in-print books should now have the right ones (including Dredd 9 and Nemesis 3). The Red Seas cover is practically identical to the old hard-back, the main difference being a lack of a strapline under the logo.

Prog / Re: Prog 1568 : BAD BRAINS!..........

I think the problem with Shakara was the length of time between series. The first one was terribly lightweight (and issuing it as a ridiculously expensive hard-back trade didn't help), but with the follow-ups, it's got some depth and has become very intriguing. Here's hoping it finds its way to a rebooted trade, containing all three series, at some point.

Off Topic / Re: ebay scammers!
10 April, 2008, 11:17:57 AM
The fact of the matter is this: eBay/PayPal couldn't give a flying fuck about you. You're not a big shop, and you don't bring in much cash. You're worthless, as far as they're concerned. Witness the forthcoming changes to feedback, basically stopping sellers from using the feedback system. For companies with 10000+ feedback, this won't make any odds, but for the likes of you and me, it's going to be scam city.

My recent experience kind of sums up how little eBay gives a shit. I sold a PowerMac G5, but something smelled fishy about the buyer. She had +34 feedback, solely from buying 1p and 1-cent items, and had a totally different name and address logged for the invoice and recipient details.

I asked the buyer on several occasions to explain this, and, unsurprisingly, they didn't. I also found that the seller had 'won' two more G5s on the same day. Wow! One person needs three second-hand Macs! I swiftly informed the other sellers and registered my concerns with eBay. This was clearly a scam, with someone having a stolen CC or PayPal account. The net result: nothing. eBay sent me a canned letter telling me how to open a dispute; the buyer is still not banned, despite the wealth of evidence. I just hope the seller who didn't get back to me (one of them did, and followed the same procedure as I) didn't ship their item, because they sure as hell won't get any money.

Luckily, the second bidder on my auction was probably the nicest and friendliest person I've ever dealt with on eBay - he paid and collected the item in person, and then left positive feedback a few days later.

But, yeah, eBay stinks. These days, I most often try and sell through forums I frequent, despite the range being lower. Sadly, ads on this place don't get much response.
