"Heres how to do a Strontium Dog volume 5"

Pretty much on the head for what I'd do, too. Not sure how far down the line TFS is, but you might want to drop Jon an email with your idea. If nothing else, it'd make sense to get Top Dog into a Rebellion S/D book.

"it'll be slowly going backwards and some vital progs, the Zenith ones for example "

I imagine the legal wrangling that Zenith's mired in extends to digital reproduction, sadly.

"£1.50 is good value for prog 2008, but not great for the regular prog."

On the plus side, isn't the stuff Rebellion's offering free of DRM, meaning it's portable and that you own it, rather than 'renting' it?

"If you're going to have Pertwee take the lead in a telly fantasy then surely - in the name of sanity - it should be a telly version of Hellblazer. I speak with a mouth full of right."

Frankly, he should have been cast in the movie, but there you go.

Rhys Efans is the name most banded about at the moment. Personally, I'd sooner see Pertwee take on the role. He's a good, underused actor who has a serious overtone and gravity that the series desperately needs.

"A "Compleat Ace Trucking Company" is long overdue."

For various reasons, I doubt we'll ever see that, but it would be fantastic. I did some quick calculations in Excel, and reckon ACE could be sorted in two chunky trades that still come in slightly smaller than the thickest Strontium Dog one. (With a series that has relatively niche appeal, it would make more sense to release it in fewer chunky volumes, rather than more 'glossy' ones, despite the inevitable trade off in print quality.)

"can't find any best if 2000ad's with himm in"

Most of ACE Trucking was collected in BO2k. Grab issues 54, 64, 74, 84, 88, 89, 92, 92, and 113.

"I only managed to get the first 12 before I was posted to a different squadron and couldn't get hold of it."

I'm selling a complete set, if you're interested. All 63 issues for 40 quid (+P&P).

"while pricey, it is quite brilliant, and highly recommended"

Good to know, seeing as I bought one on Friday!

I'd recommend going to John Lewis, Jessops, PC World, etc., and looking at some frames before buying them. The variation in screen quality is massive (in terms of brightness, clarity and resolution).

I'm likely to buy one for the missus, and am veering towards the 7" Philips one with a 'wooden' surround (a pricey £129, although similar models in flat plastic only are available for about £99). Elsewhere, avoid the BT ones, judging by how they looked when I saw them. Toshiba's TekBright stuff looks pretty good, however.

"if I want to keep getting my paper progs AND get the online version, do I have to pay more money?"

If you buy a CD and then download it off of iTunes, you pay twice. I can't see this being any different, unless Tharg becomes Tharg the Extremely Benevolent.

General / Re: 2007, a Year in Review...........
10 December, 2007, 01:53:35 PM
Taken on average, I think it's been a great year for 2000 AD. The strips have had a great mix, with a lot of fresh stuff, and any lulls have been mercifully brief. The trades line has also been, at worst, very good, veering towards exceptional on a number of occasions.

For me, the sister publications have been more variable. Extreme has been pretty inconsistent, but as something populated entirely by stuff clearly either not good enough or/nor saleable enough for a trade, that's to be expected. The Meg, however, has been pretty rough. The main exception, oddly enough, is the issue that just plopped through the letterbox. If it weren't for the sodding movie reviews, this would be close to a perfect Meg, and so that bodes well for 2008.

"Three years since Traitor and there's been no collection yet? Shame."

I _suspect_ (although this is _not_ in any way confirmation) that 'new' Stront will start being collected once Final Solution is done. That said, any collected tome might be a bit strange, what with a ret-con then leading to stuff that looks more-or-less like it fits right in with the old continuity.

Another option is to just go further afield with Amazon. Amazon.fr has black DS lites in stock, and Amazon.de appears to have white ones.

GAME and GS are out of stock. http://www.movietyme.com/ might be a possibility, although they're selling US units, so you'd have to add a UK charger (although I suspect chargers are easy enough to find). Phone/email first to check availability, obv.
