Help! / Re: Ebay newbie advice

My advice: don't bother selling anything that will likely net you less than an hourly rate in a typical job - give that stuff away instead.

Run it in a C64 emulator, such as VICE, CCS64, Frodo or Power64 (Mac).

Sadly, fat lot of good that'll do. eBay really doesn't seem to give a flying crap about this sort of copyright infringement. Stick a GBA flash cart on the site (even thought that has legitimate uses), though, and watch how quickly the auction is pulled.

But then any fan of Strontium Dog should be picking up the excellent chunk-o volumes anyway.

Unless I'm having a senior moment, "The Beast of Milton Keynes" is in the third book.

Mm. Looking at page counts, it does seem No-go Job is in the fourth chunky volume, which leaves just 12 pages from the page count (at least some of which will be leader pages). A shame, if that's the case, not least with previous Stronty volumes being so utterly complete. That said, the information on the books site is subject to change. Here's hoping that some of the 'extras' (especially the colour ones) find a home in Final Solution instead.

Why not supply a list of currently "missing" stories to Jon? Perhaps there's still time to make changes to upcoming books (at least Final Solutionâ??I imagine SD4's already sorted).

"'Long Distance Calls' (Prog 776, Millar/Hughes)"

Just dug this out. Here's the line:

"They're in my liquid dog skin, Guglielmo.

I've got people

Living in my skin."

*Brr*

I seem to recall 'Long Distance Calls' (Prog 776, Millar/Hughes) being really creepy, with some horrific dialogue.

"Now a question. I was reading a few bits and pieces on the net after finishing it and I learned that, for the TPB, they had Cameron Stewart redraw some of Ashley Wood's bits. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?"

Because Wood totally ignored the script, and thereby made the point of the entire series incomprehensible. (Frankly, Stewart's art wasn't great either, but at least it more or less got the point across.)

"Oh yes, and here's an insight: a major part of the work is concerned with notions of what constitutes personal identity and how we can free ourselves from the shackles of linear thought and live out an endless permutation of possible selves for different situations. Like the "You are not your job" bit from Fight Club times a million."

Or: we are one/we are all.

The other major component I got from this was Morrison's (possibly *then*) quasi-religious ideas, not least the concept that everything is one, and the current state of things is that of a chrysalis, waiting to be born (after which point, all conscious things end up having their "dreams"â??note that this means everyone "wins" in The Invisibles).

"as I believe is Red Seas"

Red Seas is a series reboot, not new dressing.

"Arguably tooth's greatest stories outside of JD"

Personally, I always rated SD *above* JD. As for where to buy, Amazon stuff always arrives in variable conditionâ??often, GNs are badly dinged. I've never ever had that problem with FPI, though, whose packers seem to be a lot more careful.

"There's something eminently re-readable about all those D'Israeli hardbacks"

And they're such beautiful editionsâ??really nicely designed and made. I always get slightly angry when people on this board dismiss even the thought of buying KotW and the WotW stuff, because it's simply so good, so affordable (I think KotW cost me about seven quid) and NEEDS buying.
