So, if that's the case, why did Jamie state on this forum that Rebellion isn't starting Strontium Dog from the Starlord stuff, because of rights issues?

My understanding was that Rebellion owns the rights to any characters that appeared in 2000 AD/The Megazine, but not any of the actual stories that appeared in other publications.

That might be tricky for a low-cost publication, seeing as Rebellion doesn't own the rights to Crisis.

I think he's referring to Slaughterbowl, which was pretty good, IIRC.

Actually, that's a good point, although I reckon Fiends has perhaps a better chance of wide appeal than Firekind (despite Firekind being a far superior story?at least if I'm not looking at it "rose tinted").

As for quality, I'm not terribly concerned if it's not brilliant for the EE?after all, it only costs a few quid. It's when the repro quality in a 15 quid book is shoddy that I get pissed off.

:: It's Firekind. In the right order.

F??ing A!!! The only bad thing about this is that it means it won't be a TPB. Still, this is the next best thing. Woo-hoo!

Interesting that the two judges who've been seen to have "unjudicial liaisons" are the ones that make the final. Anyway: DeMarco (despite her appalling taste in blokes).

I'd recommend something like the ABS Plus, which you can then use for a full back-up system from that point on:

I did the list partly as an addition means of easily accessing the information about each book, and also for an all-on-one-page price guide. As for Amazon, the company's service was dire over the festive period, but has, for me, been fine since. If your copy of Verdus was damaged, you can send it back, whereupon Amazon should refund your postage and dispatch a replacement.

For those that are interested, I've created a list on Amazon UK listing all of the TPBs released during the first nine months of the DC/Rebellion deal.

... it would have been rubbish.

I think I agree with most of that. The latest Dante arc is surprisingly iffy, although that perhaps comes from the gradual build-up to the excellent war story, and subsequent "back to normal" thing going on. Still, Dante was supposed to be finite, so there may be surprises to come.

Dredd was good?I'm very glad the writers and editor have decided to actually follow up on a major story, rather than just immediately reverting MC1 to the status quo, as is so often the case.

SCB and Cabs, I'm waiting until they've complete their runs, whereupon I read the whole thing in one sitting.

Slaine was the real surprise?it's actually not too bad, even if it does still read like a remix or cover version. As for the nudity, I didn't even notice it, which is the obvious difference between this art and that of Valkyries.

The cover was, in my opinion, a bit iffy, however. And I really wish they'd stop covering up bits of the logo. It's not big and it's not clever; more importantly, it dilutes the brand.

I bought the first Edge after the redesign, and have vowed to never waste my money on it again. It's so unbelievably humourless, and the journalism has been on the slide since the old team got booted. Erm, I mean "resigned".

The thing is, you can have decent journalism and humour, as evidenced by the likes of Zzap!64, Crash, Amiga Power, and Arcade (even games? makes a brave stab at this now and again), but it appears few readers really care about this these days. Also, it'd be nice if some of the mags dropped all the previews and news crap, and added some actual features once in a while, but hey-ho.

The whole industry seems to have forgotten it's aim is to entertain.

What we need is Kill! Kill! Gaming! Look out for it! Coming soon! Etc.

Thing is, in order to see that profile, I'd have to buy Edge. And that'd just make me feel dirty.

Rebellion is primarily a games-development company that owns all of the IP to do with 2000 AD. The DC deal does not incorporate European-only trades (and, in fact, technically speaking, the European trades cannot be sold outside of Europe).

The trade you're referring to is "Fiends of the Eastern Front".
