Be wary of doing this, though, because many stories changed massively later on. Early Dante was excellent, but humourous, whereas later arcs are quite dark. On the other hand, Robo-Hunter soon becomes out-and-out comedy that's more overt than Verdus. And then there's stuff like ABC Warriors. I hate the first run of this, but reckon the Black Hole Mission arc is really good.

I'm 100 per cent certain it's unfair backlash. J-lo is hardly in the film anyway, and Afflect puts in one of his best performances (which is hardly up there with the greats, but is nonetheless fairly good).

I watched the film on DVD with my other half, and when it finished, we both agreed: there's nothing wrong with Jersey Girl. It's a GOOD film, not a mediocre one, and although it's very different from Smith's other films and it's not particularly original, it's better than Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob and Mallrats.

In fact, it's kind of along similar lines to Chasing Amy, which, in my opinion, remains Smith's best film by far. However, on the basis of the original list at the start of this thread, I think Jersey Girl would win it for me, due to Van Helsing being total pap, and DotD being a seriously inferior remake.

Try giving Forbidden Planet in London a ring?they had a pile of Wardog PTBs when I was last there (hardly surprising, seeing as it's a pile of tosh).

The issue with printing comes in two parts. The first relates to the banding seen in SiB. The occurs because the print-dot pattern in the original clashes with the print-dot pattern of the new print. There are ways around this, however, although correcting this problem can be a tedious task. The second issue is to do with colour, which has generally been a little poor in the Prog and Meg at times. This is much easier to fix?just figure out how the scans are coming out and run a batch action in Photoshop on all scanned files.

I spend a fairly large amount of every day using Photoshop, which is perhaps why I'm so annoyed when printing problems occur, even in prints based on scans. I know most of the issues are avoidable, or at least could be reduced considerably. This all makes me rather happy that most of the 2000 AD stuff I want is b/w (although Titan even managed to mess some of that up with its run of 2000 AD stuff?here's hoping none of the b/w Rebellion/DC books suffer, because that really would be utterly inexcusable).

As for the prices, I think the $13 > ?8 is perfectly reasonable, once you take into account exchange rate fluctuations and shipping (as in shipping the goods from the US to UK distributor). (It works out at roughly $1.62.)

:: Reproduction is *still* an issue.

Good grief. Finally, we get decent 2000 AD collections, and it in part gets messed up by dodgy scans, which could and should have been fixed. Great...

Here's hoping none of the forthcoming volumes are as woeful as "Swimming in Blood"?the Dante collection was iffy, but still readable, and just about acceptable in terms of repro. I'm guessing Sin/Dex is closer to the latter?

Depending on which rumour you believe, Zaphod's other head is up his nose, or is optional.

Judging by the number of posts he made, he never really spent *that* much time on here. Having been in marketing myself, I guess there are two approaches: one is to immerse yourself in talking with the fans, and the other is the Apple approach, where you ignore them entirely and just announce things when you're good and ready. I guess Rebellion started at the former (with Mark and Jamie), but is now veering towards the latter, at least to some extent. However, to be fair to Rebellion, there are fewer staff there now, so in all likelihood, Dom simply *doesn't* have time to post here.

Apparently, Dante covers must be pink or purple, or something. I thought the original artwork for this wasn't exactly brilliant, but there you go. Maybe they're hoping a half-naked women on the cover will help shift copies.

Well, any word from Rebellion about future ideas and releases would be good, but it looks like interaction died when Mark and Jamie left, sadly.

Good God?it's dire. Why the hell can't they get Simon to do some new covers, especially when he offered to do so? I really hope Dante TPB sales aren't affected by the awful covers, because I *really* want this series to go the whole way.

IIRC, 2000 AD's sales are in the region of 25,000 - 30,000, with about 3,000 subscriptions. Unless recent months have seen a massive increase in sales, I'd say 2000 AD is a long, long way from a six-figure print-run. Interestingly, Viz still has a circulation well over 100,000 though.

My understanding of it is that the financial success (or not) of one area of Rebellion's business doesn't affect the others anyway. So the games side could do poorly, and the magazines would soldier on regardless?and vice-versa.

:: Wonder what would happen to 2000AD?

God knows. But perhaps games companies should stop pandering solely to the geeky polygon-loving idiots that currently comprise the majority of the mainstream gaming market, and actually remember they're supposed to be in an *entertainment* industry. EVERYTHING in the press about gaming at the moment is waffling on about next-gen consoles being the "saviour" of the industry, because they'll provide us with "realistic" graphics that you won't be able to tell apart from a movie. Well, great, but what about the GAMEPLAY? And, quite frankly, the "realism" level is pseudo-TV realism?and "rubbish anime from 1995" "realism" at that.
