Dear Ron,

Thanks for all of your wonderful work. I loved it when I was a kid and I still love it now.

Wishing you a long and enjoyable retirement.

Kerrin.

Actual towns/villages,
Burpham.
Fulking.

When I was at school in Surrey during the 80's we had an unfortunate fellow in my year who had to have an operation due to the fact that his bollocks hadn't dropped as per usual when he'd reached puberty. Poor chap. That's not the funny bit though (at the time it was) what was funny was that this guy lived in the village of Chiddingfold, and the name of the thoroughfare on which he dwelt.

Ballsdown Lane.

I shit you not. Google it.

I live just off Winnet Way. S'probably a local thing that though. Winnet equates to dangleberries, tagnuts or any other term which refers to the shit that gets stuck in the wool round a sheeps arse.

Go on Norm, give 'em a shout.

There's some awesome pieces on that site, not a name I'd encountered before but that's some seriously nice work.

There's a load of names on this thread I'm going to have to check out.

Prog / Re: Prog 1635 - The Axeman Returns

Cover - Pleased to see that Slaine has accessorised his bloody axe with a nice charm bracelet. Sweeeet.

Dredd - Unsullied Ring. Still tittering. Top right panel on the last page though, what's that pose from Dredd all about? "Ooh, I'll shoot your eyes out you bitch". A bit fey isn't it? Al Ewing got a vote from me for the Eagle awards as well (along with tooth, FQ and Matt Timson).

Zombo - That's a very sneaky zombie. And a very odd story. I like it. Two Ewings in a row, luxury.

Slaine - Jeez, I dunno, I used to really like Slaine. But that was a long time ago. Sky Chariots, The Horned God, loved 'em. When it all went time travelly weird shit I lost interest, didn't like the art, didn't like the story. Haven't read anything to change my mind for years now. Still give it a look, but it's really not my horn of mead.

Cradlegrave - Great story with great art. Love that Tweak t-shirt. Why can't old green bonce come up with shirts that cool.

Savage - I'm just guessing here but next week I think he's going to resist arrest.

Good prog, though I'm glad Slaine is going to be a short run. I'd quite like to see some Clint Langley black and white pen work to get a better idea of the vision as opposed to the veneer. Sounds trite but I think his work has become a case of technique before design. He's obviously a fantastic artist but the techno wizardry leaves me a bit cold.

And as for spoiler tags in the review thread, well I work on the basis of not reading the review thread till I've read the prog.

Johnny Alpha has a brummie accent, so Clive Owen could do that easy, coming as he does from Coventry.

Ravenglade does have a particularly macabre lilt to it though. Ravens are a bird traditionally associated with death and the glade part for some reason, to me anyway, suggests a druidic flavour. My current half-brained theory is that the estate is built on or near an ancient site of sacrifice or monstrous evil.

So it could be leading to a Slaine tie-in and we end up with Slough Feg running about the estate with little Feg flapping in the wind. Tra-la-la.

Bloody hell Ozebane, your first post's a Dirty Frank story? Go on man! Welcome to the board. It's an excellent story.

I think the 500 word limit is working well, and don't forget you can enter multiple stories.

Great stuff from everybody, and plenty of new faces as well. Welcome along, you'll like it here on the board, loads of great people who are all 2000AD mad.

I'd better start working on my Ren and Stimpy/Simping Detective project methinks.

Nice one your Lordship, I was thinking 'Oh it's....no it's....oh hang on it's.....ha-ha-ha'.

That's a blinder of a subject. Nice one Gibson.

I can feel another MC1 vista coming on. With flocks of Manta tanks and great big guns and plenty of eagle action (bloody eagles, I'm still trying to work out the laziest method of drawing those delightful shoulder eagles) and I might try my hand at an explosion or two as well.

Can't wait to see what people come up with for this one.

Wonderful sketches. Those D'Israeli Stront Dog ones are the poodles plums Matthew.

Thanks to all for posting their treasure.
