Been meaning to post this thought for a while, that Moorcock thread has re-energised me, so here we go...
Recent plans have necessitated the buying of new jumpers, so I was in Sainsbury's the other day, and I started thinking, 'What I really need is a lumberjack shirt.'
Which got me remeniscing about how they were really big for about a year or two in the late 80's- early 90's in the post-Goth pre-Greebo/Grunge days...
Which got me thinking about Tank Girl, then I realised...
Back in the day, so it is said, 2th was pretty anti-establishment, legend has it the creation of the Galaxy's Greatest, was fueled with a punkish energy, spitting in the face of the comics 'scene' of the time...
Fast forwward a bit and the sense of anarchy seemed to fade a little...
While Deadline was putting out stuff like Tank Girl, Milk and Cheese and Bugs & Drugs on a regular basis, things chez Tharg seemed a bit 'same old same old'...
So yeah, did 2000ad become the 'establishment'?
If so, when?
...And is it still?
Time for a heated debate...
