General / Re: G'day everyone....err, crikey!...
05 May, 2006, 03:17:24 PM
OK, I'm a Kiwi living in Brisbane. Got put onto 2000AD as a kid by a good friend. That was prog 130 something & then dusted the whole lot off a couple of years ago to relive my childhood. Trying now to put as near mint a collection together as possible. As for the two alternate covers... well there's actually three. The third is both front covers in the one comic (they are the first 2 pages). It was only released to subscribers. I won mine on Ebay & by the time it arrived it was more or less time for me to pick up that prog with the one cover from my n.agent. He charges 6.60 a copy but made an error as there were both cover editions in the bag for the one price. Well I'm outta here, it's the ANZAC test tonight...Gee who to follow? :-)

Film & TV / Re: Sapphire & Steel

...didn't the invisable man play the lead? I grew up in New Zealand and can remember an episode where there was a world war two fighter pilot trying to convince s/s that he was alive. He kept refering to himself in the present while they kept reminding him he was long dead and in the past. Scared the crap out of me when he re-lived his death. So much so I still remember it today, but by todays standards it's kinda lame I suspose.

General / Re: Can you defeat the Rogue Troop...
17 March, 2006, 06:36:39 PM
...Has anybody entertained the idea of a GI battalion? Gened GI's en masse. While Rogues been wondering about for a gazillion years the Genies have bred an entire division of GI's. Rogue comes home and joins one particular battalion of that division as a vet. Also there are many other Re-gened vets from the massacre who play significant roles in this new division. It answers a lot of the problems people seem to be concerned about in this thread. So many new characters with their own history too and you don't know if they are going to live die or defect.

...I'd love to see a whole division of GI's drop and assault either Nu Earth again or even Old Earth for what ever reason. Just a thought....

News / Re: New Rogue Trooper Trailer Onli...
03 March, 2006, 01:51:00 PM
...Gee, most of you are a tough sell. I have just watched the trailer & thought the music was great and the graphics too. I don't expect a
'feel it-taste it-live it' game sanerio, it is still just a game when it's all said and done and they have done an excellent job from what's available to see thus far. I must admit I would like to have heard voices and background combat chatter but it's a trailer & the music was incredible, just perfect I thought. I prey they begin the game with the Quartz drop, it seems logical. Watching hundreds of GI's 'buying it' would be spectacular and many obviously being field operated on too which raises an interesting point. Where have all the ID coded chips gone from the massacre? I mean if your droping like flies then it stands to reason that your buddies are going to remove your chip & slot you. The Quartz should be littered with hundreds of chips waiting to be re-gened or am I missing something? I have only just got back to reading 2000AD after I dropped out after prog 500 and something. Has this issue already been covered? Read the whole Major Magnum saga and the Body Looters back in the day, but what has happened since? Also if the GI's were the ultimate soldier (& Rogue's proved that) then why wern't there future gened GI's coming up through the ranks. A bit like school but without that whole killing and maiming thing going on. It's just a couple of points that I think could spark some conversation, unless it actually has already been covered, as like I say I have been away for awhile. Next to Dredd Rogue is a very, very close second (at least until they got all weird with the assasinations and off world crap...bring back Cam Kennedy & keep Rogue on Nu Earth too) OK, that's my 2cents.

Help! / Kennedy/McMahon & Ebay
29 December, 2005, 02:38:27 PM
I'm a regular on Ebay with buying & selling & am now in the process of making my auction pages prettier. As a result I am teaching myself Hypertext and have enough of the basics down to start copying pictures & putting them with my auction. This is only for asthetic reasons & nothing more. Trouble is I want to use some McMahon or Kennedy pics. How do I go about getting permission? I have seen some of the free ones out there but I'd really like to use some from these guys. Does anybody know where I can use some from LEGALLY! I'm not into ripping anybody off. I just want viewers to look at my auction & take a positive out of it even if they don't bid. Thoughts anybody?

Help! / Aussie help desperately required.
27 December, 2005, 03:24:34 AM
Ok; here's the thing, I get my plastic bags/boards to protect my beloved 2000AD's from Westcoast comics over in Perth (although I'm based here in Brisbane) but since they 'relocated' & said in an email that they won't/can't fill orders for six weeks I bit my lip. Now that was about five months ago & I'm dam lucky my user name is Ironjaw! I have written a couple of times since but get no replies at all. So; is there a shop/store anything that can supply me not only the bags but also boards & staoage boxes too, to here in OZ? I'd even settle for a store in the Southern Hemisphere at this point! Thanks anybody.

Help! / Re: Spectrum Supplement driving me...

Artistic talent and you can spell too, is there no end? Now if I can only remember where I put that dictionary so I can at least figure out what recalcitrant means. You have inspired me, perhaps while I am looking for that blasted dictionary I may find my old crayon drawing of stick figure judges & I too can post it. Then again some things may be better off where they are. Jeeez, I wish I could draw like you.

Hiya Bolt, Yeah still trying, it's like the dam thing just up & fell off the planet. Get this, I even wrote to some of the people selling their spectrum games consoles, games or what ever, in the vain hope they might have one laying about. I really am becoming quite sad, proberbly need to get a new hobby like paper folding. Only I won't be able to use the flyer to actually fold  as I don't actually have one, ha! Glad to here the pencil's going strong. How about a post of some of your latest work?

Help! / Spectrum Supplement driving me nuts...
26 December, 2005, 03:20:25 PM
Can Anybody, Anybody at all; help me in my search for this stupid, worthless piece of glossy paper that had no right being in a 2000AD prog in the first place? It might not even be worthless because now I am prepared to pay a fiver for it! The spectrum supplement flyer that came with prog 459 that had the Flying Dutchman on the cover and a Meg citizen talking while Dredd says "shutup creep" or something similar. If you have one & don't mind parting with it I'd love it. Please if you answer 'yes' can you actually send it as a couple of people have said yes & eight or nine excuses later (each) it's still not in the mail (sigh) God give me strength! Thanks Guys for any help.

Help! / Free Gift prog swopsies
03 November, 2005, 01:15:13 PM
Am trying to complete the free gift progs from my 2000AD collection and have kinda stalled a little. If anybody can help with any of the gifts between progs 178 and say 300 let me know and perhaps we can trade or swop or something? I have both the 178 and 300 myself and can let those go as the Rowntrees Fruit Gum posters are needed. Even the Spectrum Supplement I wouldn't mind having. I know it's only a flyer but it just means something to me. Hoping someone can help. Thanks.

Help! / swop Prog 213 with free gift anyone?
13 July, 2005, 05:54:09 PM
I have prog 213 with it's free gift (Buck Rogers sticker packets) if anybody wants to swop for either of the Rowntrees Fruit Gum Posters (progs 272 or 281 as I already have 276) or any other free gift prog below 459 considered. I'd even consider the spectrum supplement which is just a flyer & not really a free gift prog! (Prog 459) You could pick up a real bargin here. I have others too, so maybe we can both benefit?

OK, prehaps I am mental but at least I'm not killing and maiming people on the tube and busses, this has got to be a better type of nuts for all concerned.I just think my collection is incomplete without them, it's a personnal thing & I'm hoping someone can help.
