Books & Comics / Re: New Trades!

Had quick flick through the Stronty book noticing the prints look alot dark and little bit more difficult to read.

This is due to the pages originally being printed in Color. The Agency Files collection reprints them in gray scale.

I was expecting it to start with Johhny's prelude story of how he how he grew up aand first came into his mutant powers. First story shown 'The year -2180. The place- Caytor. Administration planet of the Dorian Nebula. With a StarLord Blue Printers Label at the top.

Is this the very beginning?

Of course. Strontium Dog started out in the comic magazine Starlord (If I remember right, it was basicly the sister mag to 2000AD at the time) the title didn't last and it was folded into 2000AD with Strontium Dog making the jump the the Prog.

And yes, SD doesn't start with an "origin story", but then neither did Dredd.

Most of the stories appear have Wulf in there as well.

All of the stories have Wulf in there. He's always been Johnny's companion.

Despite my initial confusion, I can still see this stuff is gold.

It's not really that confusing, Starlord was a sci-fi action/adventure anthology series, just like 2000AD, where Strontium Dog made it's debute. When Starlord folded, Strontium Dog made the jump to 2000AD where it continues to this day. The Agency Files reprints all the Starlord era strips and several 2000AD era strips.

Anyway, I got my copy, and my god does it rock my socks. I can see why many see the adventures of Johnny Alpha as being second only to Dredd. If only todays sci-fi comics had this much spirit and adventure bursting from their seems (outside 2000AD that is 'natch)

A Savage TP! WOO TO THE FRICKING HOO!

At 192 pages it looks to reprint the upcoming Book 3 of Savage as well.  (Books 1 and 2 have 60 pages each, Book 3 seems to be the same.)

I'm going to hawk this thing like there's no tomorrow, this makes a great gateway TP to 2000AD

Help! / Re: bittorrent how?

Depends what you're looking for. It depends entirely on how many others have the file hosted.

Also those DL times can change over time and other Torrent Sites could have different visions of the file with different numbers of seeders.

I find it to be a fantastic tool myself (though I always make a point to buy what I DL when it becomes avalable)

Download the Bit Torrent Client

Find a Torrent site (which I won't link has I don't know this forum's opinion of file sharing sites. Use google)

Click the links they provide, make sure there are seeders (those with the file you're looking for), and the rest is fairly automated.

Sounds like a huge waste of money to me. I'd much rather have it in an afordable format, so I can read it for the first time.

Plus is Necropolis really the end all, be all, of Dredd Mega Epics, deserving of such treatment?

But how do they fit The Dead Man in? A separate trade at the time?

A new Trade printing would be good for me thanks.

Was it mostly in B&W? Just having in the Case Files at some point would probably be just fine too.

I know the basic premises to Dead Man, was there any lead up to that that's necessary to get the whole bit of Necropolis?

PS: How are spoiler tags done again?

What? Dredd filler? That's... fairly disappointing... this won't mess up Origin's ending in Prog 1526 right?

Film & TV / Fun with Video Editing - Battlestar Macross
13 January, 2007, 10:00:27 PM
I've had this idea in my head for months and months,  so I finally decided to sit down and get it done.

Basically I ripped the first 3 episodes of Super Dimension Fortress Macross(not Robotech) off my DVD (which took freaking HOURS btw, having to run the file through two different conversion programs is a bit of a hassle) and then recut the scenes to fit the opening music of the new Battlestar Galactica (first season US opening theme, I just prefer it over the UK theme) on Microsoft Movie Editor. I'm a regular Steven Spielberg over here.

Honestly it didn't come out half bad for a first try if I do say so myself. I wish I had more episodes to draw from but I think I did okay with what I had. I might take another hack at it latter, but for now I'm going to throw it up for input.

So... without further chatter... Here's BATTLESTAR MACROSS. Enjoy

Other Reviews / Re: Been reading 'Time Flies'...

I liked the first story, it felt like Even Dorkin's Hectic Planet (Pirate Corp$) Lite. With all the early 90s grunge humor and none of the depth.

The 2nd "book" was just shit. Too much 4th wall breaking to be coherent.

I'm buying it because it looks pretty snazzy. Plus it will make a good art reference.

I personally dig it. Though I actually dig the series lineup the most. Any place I can get Judge Dredd, Savage Dragon, Superpatriot, and (aledgedly) Invincible in the same line up has my attention.

Wasn't Dan Dare a "rental" at the time of 2000AD's launch anyway?  Or did Fleetway (or whomever it was) own the rights back then?

I might be wrong, but by my calculation, 1526 includes the last episode of Origins. Thats a bit weird isn't it? For a 'jumping on' issue i mean?

Maybe, but remember it's not really THEE "jumping-on" prog of the year. That goes to 1550.

No, no, I said Subs end up far far more expensive. By very nearly 100 dollars.
