Digital Pulls for 02/04/15

2000 AD 1916 - Truth time, I'm a month behind on 2000 AD. Financial concerns have been tying up a lot of my comic budget. Hoping to catch up this week.
EAST OF WEST 17 - New arc is already off to a pretty good start.
EGOs 5- Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. EGOs is BACK! EGOs was one of my favorite new titles from last year. And when it disappeared after only 4 issues I was terrified it was gone forever. But its back! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
MEGA MAN 45 - The second half of Mega Man 3 start here. Still pretty good comics right here.
SAGA 25 - Woof, 25 issues of Saga already, where does the time go.
WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP 10 - My Hero Academia being added to the line-up is waaaaaa over due. Its a realy head scatcher why it wasn't added to the line-up at launch last year. But its here now, and we can move on with our lives.  New Jump Start titles start next week, so that's exciting too.

I always thought Rogue was called Rogue because he was a bit more of a loner then the rest of the GMs. Even before Quartz Zone.

As for Helm and Bagman, could easily be nicknames that stuck. Like Helm was a bit brainer, and Bagman enjoyed doing heavy lifting.

ComiXology had a sale on translated foreign language comics, which included the whole run of Shotaro Ishinomori's seminal manga Cyborg 009.

This comic is the most radical Cold War techno thriller I've read this month. You can definitely see that Ishinomori was a student of Tezuka. If it's got one problem it's the rather horrible racist caratures he uses for his main cast, even if they're presonalities are handled well (the African and Native American characters are the most problematic, but God damn if they're not both team badasses).

One Piece, although its ass deep in the end game of a major arc with a LOT of characters involved. So it might be tricky to know what's going on (good guys are fighting the bad guys). I'm not even sure if the main character Luffy has been around the last few weeks...

Gakkyu Hotei, new case starts in the latest issue. Pretty self contained and it just started. Pretty entertaining.

World Trigger, sort of in the middle of major arcs. Shouldn't be too hard to get the gist. Extra dimensional aliens are attacking our world. Only teenagers can save us!

Toriko, also in the middle of an arc, but much easier to follow along with. Muscle guys like their exotic food.

The good news is, over the next few weeks we're going to see a whole slate of new strips. My Hero Academia next week (though after running Chapter 1 next week, they will skip to the current chapter. So that will be a little annoying) will be a regular feature. Then there's 4 new series starting up over the next month. Some may stay, most won't. But they should prove interesting.

My advice? Just kind of read everything. And stick with them for a couple of weeks. You should start to absorb the general gist of what's going on. And help you determine if you care enough to keep up in an ongoing fashion.

SWEEEEEEEET

Slightly disappointed they won't be double publishing the chapters we've missed until we're caught up though. It hasn't been running that long (like Food Wars)

I may have to do a terrible thing after next week's first chapter...

I know its the main reason I don't randomly pick up new Marvel books that look interesting.

Marvel doesn't drop their prices after a month. They are very random. Usually they wait until they have a big sale of a particular run and when the sale's over they drop a dollar from the regular price.

DC waits 2 months. Archie doesn't seem to ever drop...

At least Image is monthly like clock work.

SPeaking of Humble Bundles....

The Humble Archie Bundle!

Afterlife with Archie, Sabrina, and Sonic/Mega Man When World's Collide make this bundle almost as cool as the Image Bundle!

Just finished reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Its a very intense science fiction with lots of religious context, meta physics, apocalyptic events, and just plane weirdness. Its structure is that of a series of short stories help together by a larger thread, and the stories vary in theme and structure pretty wildly.

I liked it a lot and plan to head straight into its fallow up, Fall of Hyperion. Since Hyperion ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

The Divine + The Wicked was a pretty interesting read. I'm not sure if I would have stuck with it in singles though. Shades of Zenith.

If there's one thing that will kill the energy of a licensed comic art style faster, it's actor likenesses
