General / Sinister/Dexter love them or hate them, WHY?
14 August, 2004, 08:16:52 PM
Personally, Sinister/Dexter, when it is written and drawn well, is one of my favourite stories and I cannot understand why some people hate them so much.

It seems to be be 50/50, you either love them or hate them. There's no middle ground.

So let's hear from both camps, why do you love them and why do you hate them.

I always like to post the dodgy descriptions of progs on ebay, it's one of my hobbies, the other being listing dodgy descriptions of progs on ebay. Now that's fuel for my own hobbie!

Also, this guy has 99% positive feedback. Go figure.

News / Re: Two Lovely pages of Dredd art....
23 July, 2004, 11:04:26 PM
Since you are so interested, I've probably not got as much as you think, espically compared to people like MC1Juve.

But I'll get round to listing it soon.

In the meantime, from the top of my head, I have the front covers of progs 3, 4 and 156. I also have a recent Carlos page from Dredd and a stunning Judge Death Page by Frazer Irving. I also have a great Dredd page from prog - mid 300's and about 30 pages of Simon Fraser from the early Nikolai Dante series.

I just recently sold two pages of Judge Dredd from prog 4 to an American collector for ?500 each. He actually bought them for his wife who used to read them as a child.

I'll try and get round to listing them on this site in the next few months.

It's got a kind of Simon Fraser feel to it. It's a similar style.

General / Re: Dredd film.....

If Shoreline have dropped this movie why have they still got Dredd on their homepage and the two script synopsis on their site. Have they still got some input or connection to the company that has taken over.

Due to the success of the current crop of Super hear movies I think the Dredd movie will get made but it may be another 3 years or more before we get to see it.

General / Re: Wake: Diesel Prog

Where can you get the Diesel progs from in London? If I can get hold of some, I don't mind bringing a handful to the Dredd Con, just to show what a nice guy I really am - ?1.00 each.....

Just kidding!

I think my best Dredd story ever is fairly recent, it has to be the Dredd/Aliens cross over, with art by Henry Flint.

I just thought that was fantastic and have recommended it to my non-comic reading friends, who also enjoyed it. Without going too overboard, I think it was one of the best stories that I've read in a comic and I've been reading for over 30 years.

Suggestions / STEVE BUSCEMI is Judge Death
04 July, 2004, 04:08:03 AM
I've just finished watching Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead and apart from this being a classic movie, it stuck me that STEVE BUSCEMI would make a perfect Judge Death. This may have been suggested before, as I usually bring up topics that have previously been discussed but I will take that chance.

If the producers did not want to use animation or special effects to create Death, then STEVE BUSCEMI would be ideal, just stick a bucket on his head and your off. I think this would be ideal casting, just like Patrick Stewart playing Proffesor X, he was born to play the part. I think this is what STEVE BUSCEMI career has been leading up to.

If STEVE BUSCEMI was not available then Gary Oldman would also be good, in fact there's very little between them.

General / Things that make Tarantino laugh
12 June, 2004, 04:55:54 AM
I'll try it with the link this time

Have a look at this link, the guy thinks that this prog 1 is in reasonable condition. I'd hate for him to set me up on a blind date...... "Yea she's not bad looking, in fact I'd go as far as to say she's reasonable" If he said that to me, I'd be thinking why not, what's the worst thing that could happen.

If prog 1 turned up at the bus stop, I'd not be a happy bunny.

Help! / Re: Artwork for sale...
18 June, 2004, 08:55:21 PM
Wow, just got back from New York, what an amazing city but I have to say I still prefer London, although it was a pleasure to go into bars and clubs without coming out and sticking of cigarettes.

I found a comic shop, opposite the Empire State building. It was very similar to Forbidden Plant in content, so I popped in but did not buy anything. I was hopping to find evidence of something 2000AD related but no luck there.

So that's all cleared up then, Carlos is the artist. I thought he was, as I had spent time comparing his styles and although I am not an artist myself, I was convinced that it was him.

Thank you to David Bishop.

Help! / Re: Artwork for sale...
12 June, 2004, 04:43:53 AM
The mystery continues. Does anybody know any of the artists in question, so that we can ask them? or is there any other way that we can solve this?

Anyway, I'm off to New York tomorrow morning and will be back next Thursday (17th June) so I will expect to see an answer by then. If anyone can prove conclusively that this page was done by someone else other than Carlos, then I will change the credit on my advert.

You have your home work, and remember no more theories, I want evidence. Good Luck

Help! / Re: Artwork for sale...
11 June, 2004, 02:26:23 AM
I think I should explain. The cover for prog 4 belongs to me and I have it advertised on the site. I took it to last years Dredd Con and asked Carlos to sign it, as he was credited as being the artist.

At first he said that he did not remember doing it and as Wake said, he also mentioned that it used a brush technique which was not his style, but on closer inspection he said it did resemble his style of drawing at the time and that he was experimenting a lot around that period. He also added that, coupled with the fact that he was commissioned to do such varied work at that time, it was a possibility that it was his worked but that he could not remember either way. It was 26 years ago and he did countless pieces of work at that time and probably would not remember most of them. Finally he did offer to sign it for me, as he did admit that he may have done it.

I declined his offer, as I wanted to look into it more closely and see if I could find out for sure who actually did it.

I have not been able to find out for sure but after comparing many of Carlos's other pages, I believe that he was the artist. I am not trying to deceive anyone through my advert, and I have explained the facts, as I have explained them here, to three people who have phoned up making enquiries about the page. It is just too complicated to explain all this on the classifieds page.

I hope that clears things up.
