Just been having a clear out this afternoon and came across these two beauty's. I had an idea in 2004 to get a huge page of artwork with all the significant artists from 2000AD creating their own small piece. Each pic is 9cms by 12.5cms. I bought many pages of art from Simon Fraser and also a couple of pages from Henry Flint, so had their contact details and asked them to contribute, which kindly they both agreed to. These are the stunning results. They were on a much larger page but I've been too lazy to contact other artists, so my project has stopped here. I've now cut these two out but both are still side by side on one piece off card. I now plan on getting it framed. Once again, thank you to Simon and Henry. Enjoy  :)

News / 2000AD Villains Takeover Special
23 April, 2019, 10:12:45 AM
I've just been into Forbidden Planet in London and picked up a leaflet advertising a signing of a Villains Takeover Special, with an image of all the bad guys from 2000AD and the 2000AD logo.

This seems to be a one-off comic, but I've heard nothing about it. Does anyone know anything?

It's happening on Saturday 4th May between 1pm - 2pm.

News / Re: Button Man coming to Netflix.

Well that clears that up then  :)

Thanks guys, oh and I'm really looking forward to this, Button Man is my third favourite all time 2000AD strip, right after Nikolai Dante and Judge Dredd.

Does Rebellion have anything to do with this? It would be another great film they could make at their new studios. Or do they no longer own the rights to Button Man? I seem to remember that there has been a long running dispute over ownership of the rights to this character and that's why this film wasn't made a long time ago.

Film Discussion / Any Update on Mega City One
15 February, 2018, 03:31:31 PM
It's been a while now but there have been no new updates to the TV series in recent months and its 2018 now. I emailed them at the Mega City one website but had no response. Has anyone else heard anything with regards to the above?

It would be nice to hear something positive, the silence is worrying.

Suggestions / Dredd compared to The Punisher on Netflix
09 January, 2018, 03:05:00 PM
Ive just been watching The Punisher on Netflix and I think that this character compares a lot with Dredd. For example:

1) He's deadpan and emotionless.
2) He wants justice.
3) He's brutal in dispatching justice.
4) He's remorseless
5) He's single minded
6) As a character he's humourless.
7) He kills without hesitating.
8) He avoids relationships

Now I found the way the current actor playing The Punisher was similar to the way that Karl Urban played Dredd, although the way they differ is that there is a slight madness to The Punisher character that is not there in Dredd.

The point I an trying to make is that when I watch a film or a box set I like to identify or relate to either the lead character or someone in the show, but I can't seem to do that with the Punisher. I loved the comic and was looking forward to the Netflix depiction, which, because of the way the Character is so one-dimensional, I am finding really boring. he's brooding, doesn't say much and doesn't let you get inside his head.

Now I really loved the Dredd film but by comparing these two characters I am worried that a Dredd series could become boring very quickly if the lead character (Dredd) follows the above 7 characteristics, without developing, growing, showing vulnerabilities or developing relationships which can be exploited.

In my opinion a character that follows the 7 characteristics mentioned cannot be loved by the public. Now a character like Dredd is not meant to be loved like a partner, friend or parent but he can be loved as a character, if you make him vulnerable and open him up. Also, I think Dredd needs more dialogue than he had in the film or has in the comic if he is to have any longevity. The Punisher has very little dialogue in the show and this is making him a very boring character.

In short, what worked in the short film and still works in the comic won't work in a TV series, if you want the general public to get on board that is.

News / Re: The Dark Judges in NEW SCIENTIST- This week
04 January, 2018, 05:05:42 PM
If you guys are enjoying the science part of New Scientist and not just The Dark Judges, who were great by the way, then I highly recommend BBCs Focus magazine. It's an easier read than New Scientist, as it's more for the Layman and has some really interesting bite size articles. It's also cheaper 😀 which brings me on to my question, what the hell were the Dark Judges doing in NS? There doesn't seem to be any reference to it being an advert or any relevance to that edition. As much as I enjoyed it, and bought NS just because of the DJ's I am confused as to their appearance. Please enlighten me 😀
