"Ro-Busters stories for which Pat Mills still holds the script copyright"

Considering the creator's rights issues that were going on at the time when Ro-Busters was originally printed, just how has Pat Mills managed to keep hold of the script copyright?

Were they given back to him when Rebellion took over or something?

>See TPO pp 53-54 for the full story.

He wrote it for Starlord and they only bought first printing rights.

>Actually, no. IIRC, Pat only sold 1st British Serial Rights for several Ro-Buster tales created for 2000 AD following the Starlord merger [in particular, Terra-Meks].

Let's hope EE24 doesn't repeat my mistake of reprinting Ro-Busters stories for which Pat Mills still holds the script copyright without seeking his permission first!

The Loaded cover and feature were a 20th anniversary tie-in. Those two repugnant ads came later, IIRC. IPC owed Egmont Fleetway money and it was easier for them to give Egmont some free ads. 2000 AD got the ad space - hurrah! But some genius in marketing deciding to use those two pages to insult half the population of the country. Bizarrely, Egmont Fleetway had a female managing director.

These two were the lot. Two too many, IMHO.

The vast majority of authors get royalties as a percentage of their publisher's net receipts. I've written books with a recommended retail price of £19.99 and a 10% royalty rate that boiled down to about 80p royalty per copy sold.

A handful of mega-selling authors have the clout to demanding they get a royalty based on the RRP for each copy, regardless of what price the reader paid for it. I'd imagine JK Rowling is such an author.

According to one interview I read, the previous generation of Heroes is supposed to be a big plot thread i.e. Malcolm McDowell's character when he was younger, Nathan Petrelli's dad, etc. Bit like the 60s superheroes from Zenith, but worldwide.

Uncannily, I've got a think piece about Wyndham in the new issue of DeathRay.

And yes, as others have noted, TPO definitely has an index - took me 30 hours to compile the bugger!

Saw a stack of TPO at FP London, going for £27 or something similar. The lovely people at Gosh! Comics were down to one copy when I went in on Wednesday, but they'd sold out by Thursday.

Meanwhile Amazon.co.uk seem to have gotten TPO back into stock, holding sold out last week...

Let's see how long their supply lasts this time.

I've been waiting for the obligatory anti-TPO comment from Floyd on this thread.

Phew!

And now I can relax...

You know, I almost dedicated the book to Floyd, just to wind him up. But I found someone more deserving of the dedication - sorry Floyd!

Some people have apparently gotten the hardback from Play at the original, discounted paperback price! So, you might get lucky - or you might not...
