Film & TV / Re: The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

just saw it and enjoyed it (although i enjoyed the mini-game of trying to understand Bane also.)

I wasn't a fan of the 2nd film mainly because of the heath ledger gushings which ruined it for me.
In all the first is still my favorite.

Also gutted Dredd trailer wasn't shown.
Also evertyime we see the gorden-levitt chap we always go 'ah tommy's all growd up'

QuoteMore I see that eagle pad more I love how they've made it a functional but still decorative part of the uniform.
Really nice.

Totally agree. it just looks so real and authentic but it is still Dredd as we know it. (IMHO)

I've never written to an actor before but i was seriously considering it. I've followed this film for years and listened to him answer the same questions over and over with no hint of boredom (which must be present).

Seems like a genuinely good egg.

Film & TV / Rewengay films.

me and the mrs love revenge films (1 million interweb points why we call the rewengay films)

our favourites are

Taken
death wish 3
i saw the devil
dead man's shoes
out for justice
death sentence

she is so excited at taken 2 I've told her to calm herself. the only problem we have is that we are wimps in that the initial 'crime' that warrants the revenge can't be too much as we hate the rape stuff which is invariably featured (death wish 2, i spit on your grave, last house etc)

Take it from me we've trawled all the internet lists so seen almost anything rewengay -ish. any obscure ones we've missed or the hive mind is aware of

Film & TV / Re: Falling Skies (2011) New Trailer

Late to the falling skies party, so apologies for thread zombification.
i was expecting it to be a smaltz fest seeing speilberg's name involved but was surprised to see it was such a 'skipper'.

tips for first five episodes. watch with remote in hand.
1. if beardy hero is in the same room with his youngest child fast foward, you will miss NOTHING.
2. if a group of people are walking somewhere fast forward.you will miss NOTHING.
3. if, after a small action piece, the heroes return to the base with about ten minutes of the episode to go then just start another episode, all you will miss is people looking at the wall or saying grace or chatting crap.
4. if you hear a piano starting skip[ a few minutes.

I'm all for people talking about things over an over (to a point) but this is so clunky it hurts my testiclay.

I'm onto episode 6 now and finding i am skipping less. the youngest even has a purpose other than making us cry 'won't someone think of the children.' in a mrs lovejoy a la the Simpsons way.

Tarantino, for me, has consistently failed to deliver. I just see his ideal of homage as blatant theft. I certainly feel he is the most overrated director of all time. However, I did enjoy Pulp fiction and the opening scene of inglorious basterds was chilling only to be ruined by the rest of the film.
