The extended version of 'Return of the King' & I beleive these scenes are essential to understanding the whole 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy.

If anyone is fan of 2000Ad, then it is probable that they are a fan of Heavy Meatl/Punk music, though there can be exceptions.

I was in a newsagancy the other day when I noticed one of the Clint Lanely covers of Slaine used in the CD jacket of disc attached to Heavy Metal magazine. Naturally I had to buy the magazine.

As it turns out, the disc in question is, how shall I say some core samples of varient Death or Black Metal music made very poplular in the mid eighties. They call it Battle Metal. Which can contain Celtic, Viking, Goth, fantacy influences. They also had the words 2000AD written on it. So I thought there was chance that these 12 songs were written & dedicated solely to the Slaine Progs.

Well, atleast I was close. This is the second Battle Metal released with this publication and it's not bad. Some of the stuff is very appropiate. The First Track is done by the ever well known Judas Priest. The magazine again is called 'Metal Hammer'.

Look out for it if you are a Slaine fan. Make sure the CD is attached. You should know it by the familar artwork.

Iggy Pop as Fink Angel. Great idea!

But wouldn't he be better as Junior.

Keith Richards as Fink.

Gene Simons as Link.

Burt Renolds as Pa.

Firstly, I think 2000AD as it's own film missed it's cue five years ago. Perhaps we could now change the name to 'Beyond 2000AD'.

My idea back then was, not to make just one film about just Dredd, or Strontium Dog, or Durham Red or any of the other most notable characters from this magazine. Make a film as series of short stories strung together in same tradition as Steven Spielberg's 'Amazing Stories', or George Romero's 'CreepShow'. Those very same short stories or analogies would each feature a different character just like in the magazine itself. Creepshow is good example as it's based on it's own comic and it's hosted by the old creep itself.

Now replace the old Creep with Tharg & those horror stories with Judge Dredd as the main feature and the original cast of other main 2000AD characters. Preferably the most popular and original ones.

If Tharg is gonna be the host then my first choice for him would be Ricardo Montalban. ( Mr Roarke : Fantacy Island & Khan from Star Trek.)
My other two choices for Tharg would be Samuel L.Jackson & Hugo Weaving. All three actors have cerebral, dapper quality that would suit the green skinned Betalgeusian well.

Judge Dredd. My first two choices for him and as it's been mentioned before, I would agree with who ever suggested Ron Pearlman, and Clancy Brown. Alternatively, Ron Pearlman could be Judge Death himself. I have read on other websites the likes of Michael Chicklis, ( Though alittle bit short, his voice & aggressive demeanor would suit.) Rutger Huer, Steve Segal & Michael Madsen being suggested.

Chris Judge or Laurence Fishburne: Judge Giant

Famke Jansen or Selma Blair : Judge Hershey

For Judge Psi Anderson, I would agree with the already made suggestion of Milla Jovavich, but I would personally prefer a younger Bridgette Neilsen as I think she is drawn that way.

Judge Mc'Gruder. The lady from the Stallone film was just fine, but I would other wise choose the female lead from latest StarTrek T.V. series.

By just looking at the photos on this thread of Micahel Berryman, I would prefer him as Mean Machine, rather then Dredd.

As far as Slaine, Johhny Alpha & Rogue Trooper are concered I have no idea, but for Slaine I would look for the guy who modeled for Clint Lanely's artwork of Book of Invasions. That's if he can act, though I have heard that the pictures of Slaine in that strip are composite photos of different guys.

Nemesis. For me, I would put in as a modern Manga-type cartoon animation. Otherweise, by the looks of him he or it would be very hard to take even alittle bit seriously as a main Character.

If they are gonna humanise him than I would have either Johhny Cage, Keanu Reeves, Will Smith, Laurence Fishburne, ( Perfect demaenor for Nemesis judging by his role as Morpheus.) or Vin Deisel.

Dan Dare ( Which could really be it's own film.) I would choose the Sky Captain, Jude Law.

For the later generation 2000AD Characters and spin off's.

I would have Lenny Kravitz as Ramone Dexter & Justin Hawkins ( Of 'The Darkness'.) as Finigan Sinister. I dont' know why, other than seeing a photo of them standing next to each other. The picture just triggered a image of Sinister Dexter in my mind. They can both sing, but I don't know if they can act.

Either Johhny Depp or Angus Macfaden doing their best Russian accent as Nikoli Dante.

Durham Red. who is also known as Blood Rayne is being made into movie anyway. It looks like they have finished filming it. I think it looks terrible, but have always assumed that character with out the other Strontium Dogs a bad choice for a movie as I don't think a main stream audience wouldn't know the difference between a real vampire & mutant with vamp powers. When by my personal definition a vampire is a type of mutant itself. I think the lady from the third Terminator film only bears a slight resemblance to main character, but that doesn't really matter anyway, now that I have been informed that Durham Red as from the comic and Blood Rayne as from this movie are two completly separate characters.

As for Durham Red. I wouldn't put her in her own movie until Johhny, Wulf, & McNulty have featured in theirs as the unfamilar audience would then realise they are mutants living and survivng in a world that shuns them.

I actualley like Carlos Ezquerra's illuststrations of the female vamp bounty hunter and realise that they resemble one Jennifer Garner. The pictures of her with the bright red hair and the fact that she does abit of martial arts is what did it for me.

Just compare these two pictures.

As a series of short stories, that may or may not have any connection to each other or crossover in any way other than a certain theme. Such as the Heavy Metal movie based on it's own magazine which was bunch of  different cartoons that had the on going theme of a glowing green orb.

Any self respecting 2000AD fan shouldn't miss this film as it features two stoner aliens very much like Dr & Quinch if not they are the same characters. I wouldn't be surprised if they were.
Check this one for yourselves.

That's looks like it would braek if it fell.

What's it made of?

Nice paint job!:)

There is another one similar to to the one you are showing.

They should put out a set figures like statutes in action poses. Likt I have seen done with certain Star Wars characters.

A fully warped Slaine would be cool.

I was wondering if the reaction figures of were each done to the same standard scale of measurement. Like Death is the shortish ( I thought he would be more looming.) Alpha looks very petite for tought guy bounty hunter& I figured Dredd who is the next tallest would be atleast as tall as Slaine who towers over rest of them. Not that that is entirely appropiate, but This is the Slaine figure that is non-warped.

I'd be damned if I could find a site with a pictures of ball the actions together wit the limited edition as well.

Also, does anybody know about the availability of the two Slaine scultptures.

One sculptured by Lee Ames

The other looks like sculpture of Bisely's Slaine. I'm not sure if he did it or just did the design for it but it looks heaps better that the action figure.

http://www.simonbisleyonline.com/archivesculpted.htm

They both go under the name of Morbid Models They are well done & it's shame that they haven't seemed to get the same media coverage on the official website. It was accident that I came across them on Steve Bisely's website.

To no avail.

Anyway, this was one of the few H.P.LoveCaft stories I had previously read.

I forgot to mention that it's PC game as well. I played a demo. It's interesting though.

So, I always wondered if the departure was intentional because of licence retrictions or that was actualley where they wanted to take that character in the first place.

I'm not even sure of where the name Blood Rayne was used in the original comic ( I know it's in there somewhere.)

I know it's the same character though.

How does 2000AD feel about the 'BlooodRayne' movie being what it is?

Film & TV / BloodRayne

Does anybody know about "BloodRayne" movie being made?

I know it's based on the PSTwo game which had already altered the character, so naturally, the movie version looks as though it's only has fleeting connection to the original comic book character.

From what I have gleamed from their official site.

It would appear that as far as the movie is concerned, she's no longer the Strontium Dog from Milton Keys & it's set in Transylvania, which doesn't sound likely.

Apparently the lady from that last 'Terminator' movie is the vamp, but my choice would be Jennifer Garner, who has the look ( If only you use Mr Ezquerra's artwork as referance.) & the moves.

Well thats my opinion.

Discuss?
