The Authority is great fun but stick to the first few books - Relentless, Under New Management, Earth Inferno and Transfer of Power. Everything else I've read after that was either boring or downright awful (Fractured Worlds, Coup De'Tat, Human on the Inside, Revolution) or descends into an increasingly unfunny send-up of what has come before (Garth Ennis' Kev stuff). The Jenny Sparks solo series by Millar was alright IIRC.
I guess the problem with The Authority is that the early material, especially Ellis' run, escalates in scale with each arc (to the point where they [spoiler]kill God![/spoiler]) making it very hard for the next writer to build on what has gone before - a lot of the later arcs just seem very pedestrian in comparison to the original run.
I used to have all of Ellis' Stormwatch stuff, but I didn't really like it - it's such a dull, generic 1990s superhero book it's no wonder that Ellis decided to tear it apart and create something much cooler from the remains.
