THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE BELL

A 1970 made-for-television movie starring Glenn Ford. The director Paul Wendkos was nominated in 1971 by the Directors Guild of America for "outstanding directorial achievement in television.

The film relates how a successful Economics professor, Dr. Andrew Patterson, discovers that an elite fraternity he had joined 22 years before in college is really a callous banking and business cabal that obtains wealth and power for its members through nefarious practices.

Great Jerry Goldsmith score too.

***I confess I initially thought this too, but IMHO it really isn't - it has a good central thread running through the various vignettes, many of which are quite brilliant in themselves.***

Yes it has a narrative, which I never denied, but the narrative is latent and in the background unlike the other volumes where the narrative is to the fore and drives them. It's the reverse in the case of the Black Dossier. The saturation of FACTions is what compels the Black Dossier parseing out little narrative connections in each section. The sheer amount of fictional info far outweighs the narrative therefore cannot be judged the same way as the other books.

It's really just an LOEG history/guide book unlike the other narrative driven volumes.

I didn't need to play the game (cos it wouldn't work anyway) to hear the end song, it went straight to it.

***what with more or less guaranteed draws like Tom Cruise getting ditched for doing nothing more than jumping about a sofa telling us all how glad he is not to be gay (as is my understanding).***

Well Valkyrie is supposedly "so good" MGM are shelving it until February next year.

***I'm on a mac so exes are a no-no for me***

If you download a program called Juicer (for MAC) you can extract the mp3s from the .exe files.

***I meant to finish by saying I was given a clutch of Denny Crockett MP3s a couple of years ago and all the Ulysses 31 tracks sound like they've been taken from original VT and or that French release. ***

I have that CD release and they are all taken from the music track of the original celluloid so they are all in mono. The new re-recordings actually sound better in many cases.

After finding the original Ulysses 31 pilot episode a while back, I discovered this rather impressive project, a pro-musician has scored and re-recorded 9 of the best incidental music pieces from Ulysses 31  (The originals are thought lost). Complete with full orchestra and modern instruments. This must be heard to be believed:

I heard he left comics to write the back-stories/storylines of (those devils in siver discs) video games. I can't imagine anyone devoting all their good ideas and time to a character that isn't their own creation in the first place for a long period of time, so even if Wagner leaves Dredd, it'll never be the same even with someone as good as Rennie. Dredd just isn't his baby.

Wrong again, you're the fan-bully terrorist cell Pat Mills warned us all of.
