>Many would quite justifiably argue that the entire subject matter is taboo in terms of supposed humour, and Morris, Simon Pegg et al found themselves vilified for their Brass Eye special.

They didn't use the image of actual victims, that's the difference. You did. The were generalizing about the media, not just telling  "dirty Jokes".

No one said abuse and child murder were acceptable, I didn't notice anyone condone it on this board. They were adult jokes.

>I objected to those posts and the direction in which this thread was seemingly heading. If nothing else, I've succeeded in stopping it dead in it's tracks, no question of that.

If that's the case you may as well get rid of the entire thread because it has been rascist, sexist misogynistic......., why single out child abuse and murder?

You were fairly specific with who you were using in your "joke" whereas the previous jokes were nonspecific generalizations and the fact that you used quite an infamous picture that was used by many tabloids of two dead kids didn't help the matter.

Chris Morris wouldn't even stoop to that.

I wouldn't call any of the jokes satire either, they're just basic dirty jokes.

Books & Comics / Re: More Case Files?

If you read my post you will see I was referring only to Dan being in 2000AD not outside of it where he's welcome to fill the vacancy.

Frank Hampson is no longer with us so the argument of new Dare tales by him is moot and why should old stuff be reprinted by tooth?

Dare was too borgeois for me, sorry.

+++It's pity then that we won't be seeing any more Dan Dare stories in 2000AD

...ah, it's not really, he's not the greatest character and tooth was always trying to get away from that clean cut hero image he represented.
He was only included in tooth under sufferance from IPC who needed a known character to launch the comic.

Apart from some of the excellent art I'm glad he's gone.

They don't need to be. The Rogue stuff is reprinted in chronological order anyway with nicer covers.

...yes, just after the war. Fargo was Chief Judge.

Judd plotted to kill Fargo because he didn't agree with cloning the citizens as well as the judges. Judd's attempted assasination of Fargo failed so he fucked off with a few other judges and the genetic stock to Ayer's rock to form the Judda.
