"While I understand the Lucasfilm-hate that's knocking about, did no-one else see the bits on Coruscant in episodes 2 and 3 and think 'Yep - that's Mega-City One'?"

Sorta. The man knows how to do a large-scale CGI background(and that's about it really), but I think MC1 would look grittier, like Blade Runner, as has been said.

Even though it's a joke, the mere idea of George Lucas touching a Dredd film boils my blood.

So apparently, once all the bowling calls were collected, the site changed to www.acmesecuritysystems.com/delos which asked people to enter their name, email and phone numbers. When they did that, they got a phone call from Commissioner Gordon. This is what I'm getting from reading aintitcool.com. A cool idea and all, but after all that, I was really hoping it would be a new trailer or at least some kind of a new look at the film.

Hey, whoa, easy tiger. Take your foot off the anger pedal for a second, and breath deep the sweet scent of board co-operation.

I've been reading about this on superherohype.com, somebody's already got there, or at least to one of the London locations. He got a bag with a bowling ball, a Joker card, and a phone number; When he called the number apparently he was told "We know who you are now."

Seems pretty cool....

Finally got around to watching this, and I have to agree, it's a great film. A top mix of political cat and mouse, and human relationships.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago, I haven't got around to watching it yet. Every time I'm having a lazy night in, I wonder to myself "Am I really in the mood for a very serious German film?" and unfortunately my weakness wins out, but I will get to it.

Prog / Re: Prog 1580: The Mark of Kane......

"Sinnead O'Connor looks a little like a potato so that we will never forget."

But she's grown her hair back now, hasn't she? I would've thought the lack of the shaven headed look would kinda remove a potato resemblance.

As for the prog, it was kinda a middle of the road experience, I thought.

It feels like the Ten Seconders is starting to pick up pace, which is good.

The Dante story just felt inconsequential. I'm sure whatever secrets are in the briefcase will become important later, but for now, it just seems like not much happened. And what was the point of Arkady changing his appearance when he spent the whole time in hiding anyway?

The Dredd story is good, as for Savage and Dead eyes I can take them or leave them.

I picked this up today, looking forward to watching it after not having seen it in years.

This is a film that scarred me as a child; I wasn't watching it myself, but my older brother was, and I randomly wandered into the room at A) the first time the big floaty head appeared and B) the bit where the kid's parents exploded and he was left there looking for them. I was about five and I was terrified.

I agree, it's abuse, but in the most subtle and creepy way.

Being made to worship at a cardboard cut-out of George Bush because God anointed him as leader is just insane.

I do like the fact that the makers made a point of showing a moderate (i.e. not-insane) Christian point-of-view, in the form of the radio host. Even he thought these people were nuts.

This is a truly disturbing film. It's a documentary about a summer camp for Evangelical Christian kids in America, around the age of ten, run by a woman who I can only describe as insane. She is of course opposed to Harry Potter ("You will NOT make a hero out of a warlock!"), she walks around the room before every group meeting blessing her computer to keep Satan out of her powerpoint presentations (her exact words), and believes Christian kids need to be taught the message because that's what the Muslims do.

But apart from that, it's genuinely unsettling to see kids that young being scared to the point of tears at a church meeting by a screaming pastor, not to mention listening to some of them repeating the stuff they've obviously been trained to. Definitely worth a look.

I've never been a Tintin fan, and I am frankly depressed they're actually making a trilogy of this, and that people like Speilberg and Jackson are involved.

Or when you do open the door for one person, the five or six other people behind them who seem to assume that you are in fact the doorman, and file through while you're holding the door.

The people who sit down the back of the top deck of the bus, drinking, smoking and playing music from the crappy speakers on their phones.

The people who, on a packed bus, will still occupy the seat beside them with their handbag/manbag, until the last possible second OR will sit near the aisle leaving the window seat empty and harder to get to.
