Also gonna throw Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang out there in the "Downey Jr. is brilliant" corner.

"Is that guy the scientist?"

Yeah, the other guy referred to him as such. I'm wondering if that was Jennifer who showed up at the office window though, all blue-feet and stuff. I too loved the first series, and I'm intrigued by this one, but it's a bit confusing so far. Maybe it's just me, but I think the artwork makes it a bit harder to tell certain characters apart (not all of them).

I ordered a couple last night. I never read the earlier Invasion stories, but still, I couldn't resist the Twinkletoes one.

Has anyone else seen this? I'm referring to the recent Anthony Hopkins directed/written/starring and even original-music-composed-by Slipstream, as opposed to the 80's sci-fi flick with Mark Hamill.

As far as I can tell it never got a mainstream release, beyond festivals, so I ordered it off Amazon, got it today, and have just now finished watching it. I think my ears are still bleeding. One of the biggest head-melters I have seen in a long time, and I mean that in a good way. It's as if someone gave Hopkins a camera and said "It's got all these cool buttons, now go nuts." The picture clicks between black & white and colour, flash frames, reverses itself, rewinds so characters can repeat themselves, does the mirror image thing, etc., etc.

And that's not even getting into how mental the story is. This film is about as Lynchian as you can get without having a name like Lynch. Well worth seeing.

The Iron Giant: Found it when I bought my first DVD player and got to choose five DVDs free, I found four that I wanted, and wasn't sure what else to get, so I picked up the Iron Giant, which has since become one of my fav animated films.

I watched 16 Blocks the other day, better than I would've thought. Mos Def's voice takes some getting used to though

That's very creepy. It looks like a big fly without wings.

That is spot-on. I would love to see Paul Giamatti with a crap combover and stubble passed out on Moe's floor.

I can't wait to see this, I avoided watching the latest trailer cos I don't want to see too much before I go. I usually love trailers, but I find with comedies they can give too much of the jokes away.

I'll be curious to see if this is an almost totally silent film like we've heard. Pixar's short films are almost all silent, and they're mostly brilliant, so it'd be great to see if they can stretch effect out to a whole film.

Side-note, my mate got the super-special edition of Ratatouille, which included a disc of all Pixar's short films to date. Watching all of them back-to-back made for a fine hour's (or thereabouts) entertainment. Two favourites, Lifted and the vaguely creepy Geri's Game.
