I realise Shakara would probably be nigh-impossible to put on film, and if they did, it would probably be all CGI, but if they decided to do some kind of mo-cap, or guy in a suit on a CGI background dealy: Doug Jones for Shakara. Cos that guy can make any weird creature look brilliant.

Also, it just hit me: Clancy Brown for Konstantin.

"Dmitri - Ciaran Hinds
Valentine - Daniel Craig"

Aye, two good ones there. I hadn't thought of Hinds, but he'd probably be more of a scheming bastard than Hurt, and he has the upright dignified look. I like Phoenix for Viktor too.  I think Blanchett might be better as Lulu though (although that is based a lot on the wig :) )

I don't think I've ever seen James Purefoy in anything, so I'll take your word that he'd suit Andreas. I couldn't think of anyone for Konstantin either. Nathan Fillion perhaps? I don't know if he can pull off being a bad guy, but he's got the charismatic leader characters down.

I'm trying to work out a full cast for Nikolai Dante here. Accents would probably be an issue, but they could probably go the wise route of ignoring them altogether.

Dante: Colin Farrell....he's got the look, and he can go between likably charming and serious quite well.

Dimitri: William Hurt

Vladimir: Day-Lewis? He's got the complete bastard edge and the sharp features.

Arkady: Paul Dano. Good actor, and his smug bastard factor would work for Arkady I think.

( I know, most of these are actors I've seen in recent films, but they're just popping into my head. If I think of any better ones I shall revise it)

Viktor: Jean Reno

Jena: Carrie-Anne Moss. Or would she be too old?

I can't think of any others right now, but I'll come back to it. I do after all have feck all else to do in work......

My brother's mate had an ancient late 80's Tron machine once. It had the four different game modes, the light-cycles, the frisbee game, and I can't remember what else. He had to get a supply of the older 50p coins that weren't used any more at the time to make the thing work, but it was still totally cool.

The question needs to be asked: Why were you watching Battlefield Earth? Believe me, I love a "so-bad-it's-good" film anytime, but some are beyond redemption. Besides, it's a well-documented fact that this film is how the Scientologists get ya; they plant seeds in your brain, and then you're heading to the compound before you know it.

Appreciated, Mr.Solo.

Classic pic. They do indeed look like a bunch of people who just made their own costumes. I love Dollar Bill's cheesy grin.

Who's playing The Silhouette again? Damn fine.

"I wonder if the Rorsarch one will have interchangeable face so we can put him in different moods."

They could go for ultra-accuracy, and have a thin layer of film on the white mask covering a few dabs of black oil, so we could move the expression around ourselves. Of course, that would raise its own problems.

The Comedian's mask/Batman and Robin thing did cross my mind, but I guess there isn't really any other way to do that kind of domino mask (I think that's what they're called).

Ho.....lee......shit.......I'm gonna need another cup of coffee. :)

I was pretty worried about how they were gonna make Nite Owl's costume work on screen, but they seem to have nailed it. Love the Owl-ship in the background too. Comedian looks like a bastard. The only person who I'd say maybe looks too young is Ozymandias, but that's a minor quibble, I'd still say he looks right for the part. Besides, we don't know when these pics are "set", these could be during their glory days.

There's a jeweller's shop in Dublin which very briefly had a sign up saying "Pick your ring in comfort"

I don't know if ring means the same thing slang-wise in England as it does over here.......

Actually, if we're also nominating our own toe-curlingly bad spontaneous puns: A friend and I were heading over to another mate's place one day, and we stopped off at Xtra-Vision (dvd rental place). My mate waited outside while I went in to get some popcorn and something to drink. The fridge was out of order, so I couldn't get any refreshments, but while I was there I had a quick look in the ex-rental DVD bin, and found the Cooler (the William H. Macy flick) going cheap, so I picked it up. I headed back outside, my mate saw I had no drinks and said sarcastically "could you not find the fridge?" to which I pulled the DVD out of the bag and triumphantly repied "No, but I did find the cooler."

I did not receive the high-five for which I offered my hand.
