Quote from: "Mardroid"
Another reason why I thought Ben killed Ben was because he mentioned Eloise. But then Ben works with Eloise too so...maybe she was supposed to be secret at some point
.

That's the impression I got.
It seemed like Ben was waiting for Locke to mention her name, and we don't really know how long they've been working together. All the previous scenes of Ben and Eloise together were set after Locke's death (if I understand it correctly) , so Ben may have gone to her under false pretences once he found out who she was.
Quote from: "Godpleton"Is it also possible that in the past three years Widmore has had at least some form of change of heart?

Perhaps, or perhaps we're just seeing him from a different point of view now. He's always been the bad guy when Ben's doing the explaining. But now in this ep we're reminded what a vicious bastard Ben is, so maybe everything we've heard about Widmore isn't necessarily true.

Yeah, I was a bit underwhelmed with it as well until the last ten minutes or so. I think it's a little late in the day to be having soul-searching episodes about the chief's relationship with Boomer, but now looks like they're setting up some kind of final confrontation between the humans and Cylons.

Also, according to aintitcool, next weeks episode answers everything. It didn't go into more detail then that, but I remain hopeful....

Quote from: "Gavin_Leahy"This might have to do with Jack putting his fathers shoes on John. Ben was never informed of this, so they might be the reason for
John's resurrection.
I am interested in your ideas sir, and I would like to subscribe to your newletter....
Along similar lines, it seems like Locke and Ben have ended up in a different time then Jack and the others. All the Dharma stuff appears to be long out of use and there's the fact that everyone on the plane actually saw the folks disappear. Why would the flash only take some of them I wonder?
He's a decent actor, but waaaaaay too young. Apparently Ryan Gosling turned down the part, and even he would have been pushing it age-wise.

I'm sticking with the Nathan Fillion camp on this one....

Aye, it was a great ep. I'm wondering about Ben's line:
"I'll miss you John..." Sounding like he didn't expect Locke to be brought back to life by the Island. Has Ben's plan gone arseways?
Quote from: "Godpleton"I kinda get the impression from this week's ep that Walt be everyone's savour when all is said and done.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. Having him pop up out of nowhere would be a bit odd if they're not planning to use him again.

And of course The Fly Opera. Because that's a story that lends itself to music.

Quote from: "Godpleton"There's a big difference this time though, Matt's actually drawing, not painting.

Ah, I see. Such variety in this show....

I haven't watched this my decision to quit, and everything I've heard about it since makes me believe I made the right choice. Apparently now Parkman has the paint-the-future ability? So they're still using the "we must prevent the painting" concept. Surely they can drop that now?

Quote from: "Mardroid"By 'window of opportunity' I wasn't referring to a time portal as such.....
My brother and I were discussing this today and he made an interesting point; For years, Ben and the Others have apparently been able to come and go from the Island as they pleased, it was just a case of knowing exactly where it was. Now, to get back, one needs to be in the exact place at the exact time, because it has always been moving, and it's a very difficult procedure?
I see three possibilities;
1) This is what the Others always had to do, we just didn't see it.
2) Since we're dealing with time travel ; The Island wasn't moving before, but now, since the end of season four, it has always been moving as far as the outside world can see. It's hard to phrase that properly, but..... Once the mechanism was turned on, the Island started appearing at different spots thoughout history, leading people to build the lighthouse station and start looking for it in the first place.
3) The writers have plain messed up. But I have more faith in them than that.
erm...

Buttonman nude - my Mum would probably love that.

But it would make for an awkward pre-dinner TV watching experience.....

Quote from: "the shutdown man"
Judging by Jin and the first episode of the season where Faraday appeared to be living among the Dharma folk, it sure seems as if they've all become stuck in the wrong era.

If they're in the wrong era then what about their 'window of opportunity. Of course... the white light. It no doubt shifted at that point taking them with it....(what with the van up and running again. Didn't it get wrecked.)

And the pilot on the plane who Jack knew. Have we seen him before? I don't remember him at all (although I think the actor is familiar.)
Great episode.
It did get wrecked.....years later. If we're right, then that scene was years before when the van was peachy.  As for the window of opportunity, that's the question really. Maybe the flash was their window. Instead of a crash, the light simply plucks the Oceanic members straight off the plane, but because the Island is stuck in the wrong time, that's where they end up. When Locke fiddled with the mechanism, he turned off the time jumping, but he turned it off when the Island was stuck at the wrong time.  (Total guess work of course, but time will tell...)
The pilot was Frank Lupidis, the chopper pilot who carried everyone back and forth between the boat last season.

I've always liked the original, and this makes me want to watch it again. Not in a "better watch it before I watch the sequel" kind of way mind you, more of a "oh, I see what that's trying to be, so I'd rather watch the original" kind of way.

What's with all the apparent superpowers? And of course, they're all pretty teenagers this time out. It looks like a strange mix of Final Destination and any teen slasher flick. I doubt I'll be seeing this, but if I find it in a bargain bin somewhere down the line, curiousity may get the better of me.

Film & TV / Re: Best Film Oscar : You Decide!

I can't really decide on a best film, so I can't argue too much with Slumdog, as I thought it was great, but I'd probably have picked Benjamin Button for best Director. Also, Wall-E had the best soundtrack by a mile.
