Quote from: "TordelBack"Isn't this back to some very dodgy notions of a unitary evolutionary path that includes all the 'options' presented, and features 'man' (cough) as the pinnacle, nay the purpose, of the whole show?  What happened to the bushy tree of the hominidae? (Please, no allusions or links to sites featuring the genitally hirsute).

Um......it morphs your picture dude. That's all I know.....

Upload a pic of yourself and see what you'd look like as a Australpithecus Afarensis! I think you'll be pleasently surprised....

Good episode, it answered a lot of questions. I may need to watch it again though, because Im still not entirely sure how the 13th tribe could be entirely Cylons in the first place, but it's all good....
Interesting about the other Cylon though. They went into a lot of detail on that one, I wonder if he'll be making an appearance?

Also, I wonder how Ellen's going to feel about Tigh? He did kill her after all....
Quote from: "faplad"I still think it's too big for a movie though.

You're probably right, but I'd rather trust the better director with it, even if it does mean a shorter time limit. Besides, this could be one of them franchise starters...

Quote from: "faplad"Shame about the show though. I read that it was in development at HBO, which lets face it, is a station that could have been launched to make this show. Preacher will never find a more perfect screen home than the one it almost had.

HBO would have allowed it the level of ,shall we say "creative freedom" that it needed , but keep in mind that the fellow developing it for tv was the "genius" behind other comic book adaptations like Daredevil and Ghost Rider. Doesn't matter how big the canvas is if the fella can't paint.

It's really well done for what boils down to a couple of guys working on their own. The effects are excellent, and they made great use of the sound effects from the game too.

This is pretty cool it's a free multiplayer mod for steam, Goldeneye re-done in the Half-Life 2 engine. It's fun to play the "Man With the Golden Gun" mode online...

Film & TV / Re: Punisher: War Zone.

Well, what can I say? This film manages to be both total garbage and utterly awesome at the same time.

Basically any scenes with the Punisher actually y'know, punishing are cool. Pure, mindless, 80's style violence. Unfortunately, he also spends a good third or so of the film moping around wrestling with his conscience and not killing anyone. But when he does, he doesn't fuck about. And he's definitely better than Tom Jane.

However, pretty much every other aspect of this film is ridiculous. The dialogue, the accents (an Irish Rasta?), the sorta plot, the psycho brother trying to be Hannibal Lecter and failing miserably, the comedy bumbling detective and godammit McNulty, what were you thinking?  Still, it's good for a few laughs.

Quote from: "TordelBack"Nah, not buying it. Far too Andy Kaufman. Why would he go on Letterman at all if he was in that mental state for real? It's not compulsory. Why would Letterman have kept him on after the break - agents/promoters aren't going to let that kind of disaster go on. I'd still go with a publicity stunt for the mockumentary.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time a celebrity has made a substance-fuelled guest appearance. Even in that clip, Letterman references the Farrah Fawcett incident, there's Kerry Whatsherface on that morning show a month or two ago, and of course, James Brown: //http://www.cracked.com/article_15295_p2.html  Plenty of other examples. As for why they kept him on, maybe they were just enjoying the train wreck?

If it is a hoax/documentary material, fine, I'll eat crow, I just can't see what he has to gain from it.

Quote from: "peterwolf"Is this a genuine mental health issue OR is it some kind of contrivance to appear weird or enigmatic ?

I am beginning to suspect that he is playing some kind of game as the mumbling, beard, sunglasses and matted hair routine has been done before and i am not convinced and if he has had some kind of mental breakdown he wouldnt be appearing on chatshows .Hence the hoax....

That's one way of looking at it. But personally I'm thinking, if it's a hoax, surely it's doing more harm than good to his career?  Right now a lot of people are thinking that they are watching the downward spiral of Joaquin Phoenix, so if he puts his hands up in a month or two and says "Hey folks, I was just joking", how has that helped his career? Which makes me think it may be real.
