Film & TV / Re: CHRISTIAN BALE MELTDOWN...
04 February, 2009, 12:51:50 PM
Personally, he's one of my favourite actors. I know he's got a reputation for being difficult, or indeed, borderline psycho on set, but I think sometimes these things are taken way out of context for the sake of a story i.e. the whole mother/sister assault thing last year.

With this, from what I've read, the DP was walking around fiddling with the lights as the camera was rolling, which apparently is a big no-no on film sets, so he wasn't without blame. I'm not saying that justifies the extent of Bale's outburst (a conversation off to the side could have done the job) but the tape focuses on four minutes of Bale screaming when we really don't know the full facts of what led up to it.

Indeed, there's no going back from this now I reckon, this is truly the home stretch for the series.
If the Old Man doesn't A) put a bullet in Gaeta's head or B) flush him out an airlock, I'll be sorely disappointed.
Quote from: "Martin Jameson"I am loving Lost this season too but did anyone else find the scene where Desmond visits someone (trying not give anything away here) in search of someone, a laughably badly written scene with a strangely accented bad actress? cor blimey guv'nor.
Other than that it's been great so far.

Yeah, that was a little dodgy.
I think they somehow needed to show that Faraday's experiments can go badly wrong, but that wasn't the best way to do it.
Along the same lines, they could have got some better actors for the 50s-era scenes. Both
young Widmore
and miss pouty-face were just irritating more than anything else. I didn't get the impression that these people would somehow grow into the Others (or otherwise..... ?  )we know and fear.

Prog / Re: Prog 1621 - Beyond the Reach of the Law

Perhaps, perhaps. I guess it just stems from the fact that I can't take any character called "The Ginger Ninja" seriously.

Greysuit:  So all the emphasis on the ninja being ginger and in the end, you can't see him?

And the ninja can make himself invisible, but not his clothes, but that's cool, because the human mind "..refuses to recognise a headless body!"? So he's invisible anyway? Could they not just say he had an invisible suit or something?  This kind of stuff is why I stopped watching Heroes.

Everything else, good. I loved the cover, just reminded me how long it's been since I saw anything by Frazer Irving. I like the way Marauder's going, and Dredd has me curious.

Also, good to see the ad for Dante's army. Although it looks like Jena's kinda pissed off to be there.

That is one of the ongoing questions of Lost.....

Quote from: "Mardroid"I don't remember that! It looks like there are tonnes of references/threads that could be passing me by...

I could be remembering it wrong, but it was an episode in season 4 when we saw Locke as a boy. Richard came to see him and told him he had a special school for kids like Locke, and then showed him a few objects, and asked him to pick which one belonged to him. When Locke picked the knife, Richard immediatly looked disappointed and left.

This seems almost too easy. Just type the letters "pwn" in front of any youtube address (i.e. www.youtube.com/whatever becomes www.pwnyoutube.com/whatever) and it will take you to a site where you can download the video in flv or mp4 format. Pretty handy.

Quote from: "garageman"yes, I believe so.
If so, I'm hoping she wasn't the rather irritating one who had Faraday at gunpoint. I find pouting a lot kinda takes the edge off a threatening demeanour.

On another note, one or two things are starting to fall into place now (I think). I'm assuming now that the reason Richard took such an interest in Locke since his birth was because Locke was there in the 50s and told Richard where to find him and that he would be the leader in the future. But if that's the case, why, when Richard came to see Locke as boy, then decide to apparently abandon him? This time travel stuff hurts the brain....
Off Topic / Re: Got Snow?
02 February, 2009, 09:03:01 AM
We've got snow in Dublin right now, but it's the same kind of half-assed snow we usually get (on those rare occasions when we do get it) which only covers the tops of cars and roofs and just leaves the ground wet and slippery. Not enough to get me out of work dammit!

Quote from: "Bouwel"That Youtube link looks, to me, like a fan-made thing? Willing to be shot down in flames about that of course!

-Bouwel-

What makes you say that? That footage definitely didn't come from the first film, and I doubt the average fan is going to be able to whip up something of that quality on their home computer.

Film & TV / Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Trailer

One thing I do love about those Americans and their superbowl is all the bite-size TV trailers that come out this weekend. And personally I think this looks awesome. More (and bigger) robots kicking ass. Works for me...
