Ladies and gentlesquax,

I am writing to enquire whether you would do me the honour of joining me for several weeks of gothic reverie and transcendental bonhomie as I commence a 'guest blog' on Wednesday 10 November at the following link: http://worleyworld.posterous.com/

I shall be 'posting' as regularly as commitment allows over the next five weeks, and intend to cover a variety of subjects, from the occult significance of a correctly tailored suit to an excerpt from my latest novel – that is, if I can get Mr. Worley to stop fiddling with himself for long enough to transcribe the damn thing!

I look forward to the pleasure your company,

Yours,
Dr. Spartacus Dandridge

Wotcha,

Just a quick post to let you guys know that thanks to some expert ear-bending by Neil Roberts and Kev Lev and PJ (cheers, chaps), I've started up a blog.

I'm aiming to include some behind-the-scenes guff about writing, research and wotnot. Strictly nuts'n'bolts, mind. No boring intros. Just straight into HARD pen-pushing action!

For now, however, I'm beefing up some of the sub-sections on current projects, starting with DANDRIDGE: the five-parter by me and Warren Pleece what begins in Prog 1710.

Out November 10, yo!

Pour yourself into this digi-funnel and enjoy: http://alecworley.posterous.com/pages/dandridge

Anyway, I've also started up a Tumblr account through which I intend to fire the issuings of my blog. You can discover it here: http://alec-worley.tumblr.com/

I'm after doing the same with my Twitter account, through which you can also consume irregular truth droppings courtesy of Animal Facts: http://twitter.com/animal_facts

Fanks.

Help! / Re: Wordpress, Posterous or Tumblr...?

Yay! All signed up to Posterous now. Really user-friendly site. All I need to do now is fill it full of cool stuff...

Swung back strongly in favour of Posterous now, having discovered you can actually purchase domain names directly through them, although you actually have to have set up a blog with them first. Am presuming this'll only cost a tenner or so...
Tumblr looks like fun (if a bit of a jumble sale at times), but the fact that you can link everything from Posterous to Tumblr means I can have both; using Tumblr to direct traffic to the Posterous blog.

Might do exactly as you suggested, PJ: domain name + Posterous. Thanks for the help. Appreciate your time, fella.

Help! / Re: Wordpress, Posterous or Tumblr...?

Hmmm. Good point. Thanks again, PJ.
Have been researching this all morning, and am currently favouring Tumblr, as the key advantages of Posterous (updating via email, integration to Twitter, Facebook, et al) are all stuff I don't really need as I'm not planning on posting willy nilly and want to keep everything seperate.
Tumblr seem a bit more ahead of the curve in terms of popularity (I want something that will appeal to potential readers as much as potential clients). Having said that, I'm not entirely sure Tumblr is really sober enough for something I want to present as an online portfolio. Been going down the list of comics blogs on there and I'm not entirely sure what the heck I'm looking at, just a bunch of random titles like 'FuckYeah XYZ' and 'monkey enclosed'!
A lot of other 2000 AD creators like Leigh and Dan seem to be old-fashioned blogspotters...

Cool. Thanks, PJ. Is it possible to set up a blog on, say, Posterous and add a domain name at a later stage? At the risk of sounding thick, I'm assuming the key advantage of buying a domain name is that it'll help you show up on Google...

Help! / Wordpress, Posterous or Tumblr...?
19 October, 2010, 10:14:12 AM
Mornin' all,

I'm thinking of starting a blog, but I'm not sure which platform to go with.
I've done a bit of research and everyone seems to use either Wordpress, Posterous, or Tumblr. (Although a lot of people seem to be migrating onto the latter two.)

I need a blog platform that's:
* Reasonably idiotproof
* Easy to manage and edit
* Lets me keep my copyright
* Free
* Can serve as a professional online portfolio, rather than a platform for me to piss about spouting nonsense (which I reserve for Facebook and occasionally Twitter).

Does anyone have any advice regarding the pros and cons of each platform...? I'm assuming starting a blog is as easy as starting, say, a Twitter feed, i.e. you just sign up, give yourself a daft name and away you go.

Thanks in advance
Aleceen

General / Re: How many female 2000 AD readers?
09 August, 2010, 08:05:34 PM
Would definitely count my Lisa as a comics-reader. She'll pick up a funnybook as readily as she would a novel. A few things she's read in the past few years: the Garth Ennis Punisher MAX; The Boys; Persepolis; Slaine; Northlanders; Kick-Ass; she's currently ploughing through The Walking Dead and has just started Charley's War.

Anyway, regarding lady Prog readers, there seems to be a small but committed percentage out there if this forum's anything to go by.

Does anyone think they'll be more women writing or drawing for the Prog/Meg over the next ten years...?

There seems to be an increasing number of female writers/artists working in comics right now, but what kind of genres/comics are they gravitating towards...?

Does the Prog really have a 'boys rep' like Stacey says...?

What would you lady readers like to see more of/less of...?

Or aren't you bovvered...?

Discuss, innit.
