Film & TV / I'm the goddamn Spirit!!!
15 October, 2008, 12:53:49 PM
Trailer number three for Frank Miller's version of Will Eisner's Spirit now online.
The more I see of this the more I'm really not sure about it. "I'm gonna kill you all kinds of dead"???

Film & TV / No Heroics - Brit superhero sitcom
13 September, 2008, 03:33:35 PM
Has this one completely flown under the radar or is it just me???
It's a superhero sitcom called NO HEROICS and it's on Thursday ITV2, 10.30pm.
According to the promo I've just read in today's Guardian Guide it's a Spaced-style comedy about five superheroes gathered in their favourite boozer. Much love for 2000AD, apparently, and comic in-jokes aplenty ('Stront' and 'Zarjaz' cigarettes, 'Shazamstell' and 'Von Doomenbrau' beer on tap). Writer/producer Drew Pearce reckons the whole thing was inspired by ZENITH.
Let's hope it's not another 'My Hero'...

Here's a trailer for the latest movie from fruit-loop director Miike Takashi. It's a Western remake cum samurai movie. Or Something. Sadly, Quentin Tarantino's in it.
Enjoy...

Books & Comics / Robert Kirkman: Comic Book Saviour?
25 August, 2008, 08:57:28 PM
Just found this on Comic Book Resources. Very, very interesting. Takes a while to load, but check it out...
Basically, Kirkman talks about creator-owned vs. company-owned comics and what it means for the future of funnybooks. Provocative stuff. What does everyone else think...?

Hi there.
I need a bit of help with some research. Does anyone know who first coined the term "the Dark Knight"? Was it definitely Frank Miller? Or was Batman referred to as the Dark Knight prior to release of Miller's book in 1986...?

Iâ??ll say that again: DO NOT READ THE â??THAT NICK FURY ENDINGâ?? THREAD!!!
Dear Angry Mob,
Itâ??s my fault. Hands up. I didnâ??t think to put a spoiler warning on the â??Nick Fury Endingâ?? thread I posted earlier. I should point out, though, that this is not the end of the IRON MAN movie itself â?? but a 30-second easter egg they stuck on after the end credits and which a lot of people missed.
Anyway, my sincere apologies to Keef Monkey, Swimini Tulkas and to anyone else Iâ??ve inadvertently pissed off.
Iâ??ve already sent an email to the forum guy asking him to remove the thread.
   Apology acceptedâ?¦?

Books & Comics / The WORST Bat-Comics of All Time
25 April, 2008, 11:27:09 AM
Okay, so I'm doing a feature for the Meg on the best and worst Batman stories since the Adams and O'Neil era.
Please help by shouting out your candidates for the WORST Batman comics of all time...
Here's what I got so far: Digital Justice, Frank Miller's Dark Knight Strikes Again and Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder ('Are you retarded? I'm the goddamn Batman!')...

Books & Comics / LXG: The Black Dossier
09 April, 2008, 01:39:46 PM
Bought this last month (from London's Gosh Comics). Am half-way through and finding it monumentally dull. Anyone else having the same experience...

Here are a couple of candidates of the top of my head:

Hellboy: The Wolves of St August by Mike Mignola
24 Hours (Sandman) by Neil Gaiman

Is it any easier/harder to be frightening in a comic than it is in a book or a film...?

...then check this out. I hope I don't sound too harsh by saying that anyone who even considers buying a ticket for dogshit like this should be made to behead themselves live on telly.

New Anime in cinemas early May.
It's called 'Vexille' and it's from the dircetor of Appleseed. Worryingly, it's looks very American...

Here's the trailer...
