Does anyone know or have any firm idea how many women/little girls/old ladies read 2000 AD and/or the Meg...?

Now that's a find! Cheers Robin. Big fan of Nicholson's spidery artwork from way back when. A definite follow this!

Here's a link for director Neil Marshall's latest film CENTURIAN, which only got a limited cinema release, but is due on DVD and Blue-ray shortly. Haven't seen it myself, but apparently it's pretty good... http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/centurion/
Actually interviewed the director for the Meg a few years back and he said how much he would love to direct a ROGUE TROOPER movie. Alas, nothing came of it...
On a sidenote, it's interesting (and I guess inevitable) how much 2000 AD has influenced a generation of British genre directors. I'm thinking specifically of Marshall (who's a fan) and Christopher Nolan, who has also cited the Prog as a major influence on his career (in an issue of SFX circa Batman Begins, I think).

I may have posted this before, but I don't care. I can NOT stop watching this trailer. It's for what appears to be a spot-on sorta-spoof blaxploitation movie and it's out in cinemas soon. Wish I was still reviewing for the Meg as they might have let me in to tomorrow's preview screening. It looks fan-TAS-tic! http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809959827/video/15468225

Like I said, where can I buy the Dredd Case Files 05 for a sensible price...? Is this out of print or what...?

If you want to read a fantastic book about the Battle of Thermopylae, forget Frank Miller's boy's own version and read GATES OF FIRE by Steven Pressfield. An absolutely amazing book!

On the other hand, if you're after spending your money on a Tolkien-esque epic fantasy that's a breeze to read, try David Eddings' five-book Belgariad sequence: Pawn of Prophecy; Queen of Sorcery; Magician's Gambit; Castle of Wizardry and Enchanter's End Game. (Read the whole lot in about a week when I was fourteen – yes, I was that f***ing sad!)
And if you want to read two of the greatest fantasy novels ever written, try Mervyn Peake's Titus Groan and Gormenghast!

You might possibly be better off sticking to the Hobbit and LOTR. All the other stuff, The Silmarillion, The Children of Hurin, etc, were pretty much Tolkien's personal footnotes/world bible, which ended up getting edited by his son and published posthumously. They all read pretty much like a synopsis rather than proper stories and tend to be read only by hardcore Tolkienites. Depends how deep you want to go, I guess. If you want to go down that road, then begin with The Silmarillion, though personally I'd recommend you stick to first four books.
Hope this helps, Klute77.
