I'm astonished how many of you seem to have these "experiences".

General / Re: When does a fan approach Halo Jones?

There's a risk someone might NOT find the good stuff (like Halo) so I'd always make the suggestions.  Happily, most boarders have different ideas about what the good stuff IS - make sure there's a good selection of titles mentioned to a given new-reader and let them find their way by themselves.  It'll STILL be a surprise, but less chance of missing the good stuff.

Welcome to the board / Re: U.S. Dredd fan

Hello Stranger.  Welcome to the community.

I reckon that thread Colin mentioned has a lot of good ideas, but is by no means exhaustive.  Have a read of that and, by the time you're done on that some more of us will have posted our thoughts and we'll have a nice little chat.

Help! / Re: Help with Back Issues

TLoG made me weep tears of laughter, but each to their own.  Although given Felx's fresh vintage, he's probably unaware of it so I suggest, Mr Vane, you watch this and all will be clear:

50 miles is a bit of a Hell-Trek.  Subs line of this very site will probably sort you out, both for a subscription (should you want one) AND those troublesome back issues.  Good luck.

Agreed, it rules....

Credit card's a nice touch too!

Most of the former railway lines round my way have housing on them.  And, to be honest, Stanmore doesn't need it's old BR station back, the Jubilee Line does well enough.

But then, this is the outer suburbs of the capital - land is at a premium and transport links round here are pretty ace - in smaller towns and cities and especially in the country the transport is so bad and this suggestion of yours, Peter, is a good one if the lines are still mostly unoccupied.

The first meg went on aale around that time.  I remember buying it rather well.

America, despite when it appeared, seemed to me to be a pre-Necropolis story - that most major Dredd-history is covered and it's hard to believe several weeks/months of the city being run by the undead monsters from another dimension who attempted to off the entire population wouldn't get a mention.

Mr Wagner says he has a pretty good memory for things he's written himself, but if he didn't write it, we may be in trouble!

Books & Comics / Re: Jonah Hex

Hmmmmmm,

I'm thinking of AT SOME STAGE (i.e. after I've cleared the decks of titles I'm trying to catch up with and I've got hold of the Marvel Conan collections which I've yet to start) dipping my toe into Jonah Hex.  Any character that's once been written by the supreme talent that is Joe R. Lansdale has to be worth a look and westerns are always fun (look at Strontium Dog for example).

What should I seek out first.....

Green always feels right, as they seem much more in keeping with the boots and gloves.  But hey, the occasional yellowage doesn't really bother me.  It's much rarer these days than it used to be, anyway.

Oh I want ALL of that list.

Except the Rogue stuff as I already have all 6 of the other volumes.  Not that I mind, as the improved repro over these new editions means I get to stare in wonder and delight at the gorgeous art of, among others, Cam Kennedy.  And that's not a bad thing.  Mmmmmmmm.

Next year looks to be shaping up as a belter in the annals of Thrillpower.  Whoop.  SSR & Al's Baby are particularly groovy.  And if they get round to a Daily Star/Metro collection or two, well, I'll be extrauberchuffed.

The man's a national treasure.

I forsee a little GTA later on while listening to Jarvis - genius.

Seconded.

Although given the lack of difference in quality and the MASSIVE difference in price, if I *have* to go by coach (and I generally do) then I'd take Megabus anyday.
