TB: Sorry, I refuse to actually WATCH and pay attention to the damned thing.

Peter: Don't be a douche!  ;p

We should definitely go and find it and join and maybe see if the good folks of that forum want to judge our flower competition (seeing as John Byrne isn't up for it).

Most comic shops will be happy to have a look for something like that but, as has been said, you can do worse than phone the subs line as I believe they're meant to hold a few back numbers.

And yes.  It's Caribbean, NEVER Caribbean.  Although at a push Caribbean is also acceptable....

I seem to remember the amazing Bill Bryson (proof, if it were needed (and it's not) that Americans aren't stupid all by himself) said something about alluminium and the other one - can't remember what it was.  Interesting though.  Like most things he writes....

Thanks for the tips, Cosh.  I do that to set the language semi-regularly because the damned thing keeps deciding I MUST be an American by now and just changing for no reason.  I've had problems starting a document elsewhere or with others as you suggest, but that's not it as I'm prepared to slap down those US useages through long, bitter experience.  It just seems to like doing it for some bizarre reason.

I find spellcheck pretty handy as I'm dyslexic to begin with - that's part of the reason the inconsistency annoys me.  If Windows could just have a little setting to just delete it's "English (US)" dictionary and replace it with the UK one, I'd be very happy.  I never want to encounter several "options" on how to spell words, I have a hard enough time as it is.

Tips, you're right.

But seemingly everyone in American telly is lovely and gorgeous and lives in posh places.  Like the minimum wage waitress in "Friends" who managed to keep her end of the rent up in a well-appointed and large flat.  I think it's stuff like those things that annoy most of us Brits about the saccharine, mainstream US comedy (presumably they annoy Americans too).

I used my mum's loft for years.

Selling the house (and currently have nowhere of "my own" to live as I moved in to take care of her) and so, no loft and no hope of being able to afford anywhere remotely near the rest of my family that'll have enough storage space for clothes and food.  They have to go.  Sad as it is.

My only regret is that I didn't sell them years ago to a comic shop when there was less of an "ebay culture" and I might have got a bit more for them.

Revere.  Yes.  That explains a lot.

Simon Harrison!  That's the fella.  Found his work impossible to follow and wasn't a fan at all.

Pity Mr MacNeil didn't draw the entire storyline.  If you HAVE to have Ezquerra-less Stront, then it really ought to be Colin every time.

These things, and many of the gramatical differences can be traced to these things changing - we Brits mostly lost that use of the term, the colonials didn't.  As much as I joke about it, that's the way of things and quite right too.  I quite like hearing some of the linguistic ticks, but to my British eyes they just look weird written down.  No real justification for it.

JUST LIKE THERE IS NO REAL JUSTIFICATION FOR MS WORD'S CONSISTENT FAILURE TO HELP ME STAY WITHIN BRITISH SPELLING NORMS.  HANDING IN AN ESSAY THAT RANDOMLY SWITCHES BETWEEN ENGLISH AND AMERICAN SPELLINGS OF THE SAME WORD IS SHAMING.  That's why they call them "schoolboy" errors, not 35-year-old errors....

I have yet to meet these hypothetical people.  I'm not sure that moral relativism actually exists outside of a Student Union bar - as soon as the aspiring amoralist meets a real-world situation unspoken morals quickly assert themselves.

Agreed, TB.  Although I'm really thankful, there are certain types of people who push my buttons and make horrific violence, normally the kind of thing that makes me do a mini-sick at just the THOUGHT of it (the real stuff, not Dredd or Slaine), seem like SUCH a good idea.  Meeting any of these folks is likely to turn me murderous...
