REH is one of the kings of that sort of pulpy fiction and worked, I believe, across a variety of genres.

I use "pulp" here, not as a prejorative, but in the same sense I'd use "comic" as a description of a distinct medium.  When it comes to the crappy exploitation pulps with lurid covers, our own Wild Seven is an enthusiast, but I've not yet spoken to her about REH.  Nor have I read much more than a few Conan novels and one or two others, but I've wanted to for ages.  My next Amazon purchase, I think.  It's been on my wishlist long enough....

I hate stuff like that.  I'm sure the semi-regular night-time hellicopter circling that certain chav neighbours of MINE (the ones from Hallowe'en, attentive Gloady-ites) seem to attract is behind my recent bout of nightmares where I'm chased by a helicopter gunship through a burning house watching all my friends and family be burnt to death and shot into bloody chunks.

Not sure why I shared that.  Apart from sharing that nasty little nightmare with you in the hope it'll spread and be less likely to spend it's evenings at MY house.

1. Race isn't a choice and doesn't denote a pattern of thinkiing, merely superficial physical characteristics.  Religion is a method of thinking and entirely a choice made by an individual.

2. Some people's religion seems to blind them to the basic sense that most of them seem to espouse.  Namely non-violence, forgiveness etc.  The Christian right and authorities of various sects and religions seem very hot on censoring ideas they don't like.  So my statement stands.  I wasn't suggesting ALL Christians are small-minded biggots who enjoy telling other people what to think, only that SOME are and do.  A fact that CF seems to have pointed out evidence for.

I would NOT have a clear conscience in those circumstances myself, but I think that's healthy.  You *shouldn't* feel perfectly ok about belting someone in the teeth when they've done nothing more than talk to you.  No matter what they said.  The guilt is a good sign.

Regarding your idea Kerrin - maybe a thred for all non-competition Fan fiction would work best.  That way we'd all know where to go?

She DOES look a bit young, but like everyone, she was young once.  A good stab from an artist who, I presume, is probably only slightly familiar with the character. 

It's only the missing semi-cirular ammo-selection part really, regarding the gun.  Draw that in and it'd be very Mark I.

Peter, Supes - I agree on both fronts. 

Although the folks who bomb medical schools because of the necessary work that goes on there are plain barking mad. 

As for pre-emptive retaliation, I see where you're coming from.  I would never instigate such things, but if they come looking for you and there's no other way out then, as you say, my conscience is clear.

Well, I wouldn't have said this had you not brought it up but.... I'm not a fan of Jesus either (or his followers).  Christians can (and invariably do) take issue with whatever they like.
