Mmmmmmmm, cake.

I haven't baked cake in ages.  Normally do for my mum's birthday but 1. she's not really able for cake at the moment and 2. I didn't have the time this year.  So I bought a few Victoria sponges from Sainsbury's and distributed them among the other residents and staff at her hospice.  Went down well and there's no way I'd have been up to baking that much.

Not without eating it all anyway.

Come on, TS, the Hi-Ex Helltrek 2010 needs you.

The Creative Commmon is seemingly a wealth of helpful stuff.  Should be lots of food for thought there to prime and polish your subs.  Good luck.

Oh, and Sunday is the first day of the week because it is. Ask Google.
Far be it from me to disagree with a fellow Warlock, but your keyboard is full of wrong.

Hopefully TS has the icing problem nailed down by now and is regularly making Ukko cakes.

Filthy little dwarf! *smack*

I seem to remember something about them not wanting your Batman or Captain America samples - primarily as they're not 2000ad characters, but also presumably because spandex isn't really something Twoth does, so an ability to do that sort of thing well isn't really that relevant.

Books & Comics / Re: Goosebump moments in comics.

If I've already picked up the comic, I reckon the job of grabbing my attention is already done.  The primary job of a comic artist is to tell the bleedin' story.  The rest must take second place (although obviously we'd like there to be cracking design and all that grooviness too).

Oh the JBF!  Whatever happened to that place?

That stinks, Fappers.  Truly.

I wanted to smash in the rear windows of cars in the school car-park for years after that.  The smug window stickers that read "If you can read this - THANK A TEACHER" really piddled me off.  I'll thank a barmaid and a builder's foreman thanks.  They did more for me than any primary teacher.

Not hard to imagine kids failed by education in a more profound way turning "bad" and rebelling.  I learnt to hate school pretty early and pretty easily.

.... because I just accidentally biffed my nose really hard against the edge of the door (not looking where I was going, not domestic violence, honest) and it's sore and swollen with pronounced hard lumps either side.

On the upside I now have an "interesting" face, on the downside I may well have traded my youthful beauty for it. </narcisism>

Go for it Grant.  At the moment we have precisely NO bookshelf edition, the worst that can happen is that this situation will continue.

Spending lots of time at the moment just sitting in silence visiting with my sick mum, podcasts that keep my low spirits up are welcome.

Although I probably won't be listening to yours while visiting my mum - don't want to wake her up by laughing too much.

Those blue guys, it's any excuse to get out the tackle.  As the censored episodes of Rogue Trooper prove.

I'd always suspected phonics was a bucket of old drivel, the experience of my nieces has only proved it.

This crap isn't new though, my mum had taught me to read and my alphabet LONG before school started.  The teachers had a go at her because I was making the other children feel bad (making her life more difficult by forcing her to provide education tailored to kids who weren't just plopped in front of playschool all bloody day more like).  My mum naturally had a go right back and pointed out that the teacher's laziness shouldn't be her child's problem.

As it turned out, it was.  I was promptly ignored for weeks.

I'll share if I have to.  It's not forever is it?

Hang on, let me check.  This ISN'T forever, right?

Yeah, nice work Peter.  I'm happy with anything to be honest, but nearby with comfort sounds pretty good to me.  If we're all together then that makes sense and is more sociable.
