Nikolai Dante ... Does anyone know if this is finishing next week?
Yes, unfortunately. There's a new series of Necrophim starting in 1655.
Ah, I felt like that too.

But I'll give that prologue a re-read first to enhance my understanding of it.  I can't say I was mighty impressed with it and Dante is nearly my favourite of the current thrills but I'll get over it.  After all, the sooner it finishes the sooner we can get back to following Nikolai himself.

Although a spot of Victor and Arkady "solo" wouldn't go amiss either HINT.

Ive had this argument loads over the years. Where does it say Saturday is the last day of the week?

We start work/school/etc on Monday
Sat/Sun are called the weekend
On the 7th day he rested

So why do people still insist the week ends at Saturday?
Um.  Because they're WRONG, baby.  They're just plain wrong.

Stupid me - I'd seen the title and, disregarding the images, assumed NOT that it was a play on McDonalds but rather a book about Scotish crooks.

Insert own joke here.

I presume now is too late to put my hand up?  If it is, good luck to you all and I'll find another (less fun) way up there.

Mike's there, Steev's there.  Party started.  Official.

Those are some good ideas Richard.  I think SOME sort of edit on the synopsis would be worthwhile because, as you say, nearly all the audience will have actually read it (I'd hope that ALL of them have, otherwise what's the point?).

Pyroxian's idea might well result in you guys sticking with your own personal favourites but might be worth experimenting with over a few podcasts and seeing what works best and what gets the best reaction from us lot.

Sounds like you're getting a fair bit of good advice, Crave.  I reckon other aspiring artists will appreciate this thread too.

I *would* add my chorus of approval to the mexican wave of (perfectly justified) bum-kissage started by Jim, but frankly it'd start to get embarassing and if I voted for you again in an art competition people might talk about our relationship.  And we must be discrete.

More power to your elbow, mate.

I remember it the same as His Lordship.  Nice to see such a (and Proper Dave said this himself I believe) throwaway character got first a Dredd novel and now an Armitage storyline in her.

That's vile, Trout.

Of course I'm of the opinion that things like faith schools are the worst kind of insidious brain-washing of formative psyches so I probably WOULD agree with you there.

Quote from: House of Usher on 18 September, 2009, 12:38:22 AMThis thread's getting too depressing. The bendy screwdrivers were funny though.
i liked them too. Dreadfully amusing. Because some insufferable invertebrate from a happy clappy church is visiting in the room next to my mum's in the hospice. He's got an acoustic 12 string guitar and he's here talking about, and i quote "my friend - and yours *wink* Our Lord Jesus Christ *winning, pension book siphoning smile, applause, choirs of angels*". He ahemed outside my mum's open door. She shot him a look that'd curdle milk. He ran. At least the Catholics have the decency to be po faced, mysterious and dour about it.

I'm LOVING it.  Brilliant as ever.

Shame the title of the thread changed though.  Now large chunks of it won't make any sense.....

Quote from: BoJirch on 16 September, 2009, 09:16:27 PMPreacher- The fight between Cassidy and Jesse. In fact, drokk it, the entire last TPB of Preacher. ... Preacher is without a shadow of a doubt the best comic ever written.
Quote from: Mike Gloady on 17 September, 2009, 10:37:34 AM...there are HUNDREDS of better comics out there than Preacher.  But it is reasonably good fun.
I'm glad you inserted the "to me" in that comment, BoJirch - that's what set me off in the first place.  I only originally commented to perhaps question your UNQUESTIONING placement of Preacher at the top of the comic book tree.  Although in my eagerness to point that out, I failed to insert the appropriate modifier myself - ah hubris!
Quote from: BoJirch on 17 September, 2009, 04:26:22 PMYou fail to mention any. To me it really is the best comic.
Oh, lists?  We're doing LISTS now?  ;-p

Well mine would include, off the top of my head: V for Vendetta, Batman: The Killing Joke, Lone Wolf & Cub, Sandman, Akira, Transmetropolitan, Maus, Alice in Sunderland, Tale of One Bad Rat, Batman: The Long Halloween, Miller's Daredevil, Stan Lee & Steve Ditko's Spider-Man, Watchmen, FreakAngels, Love & Rockets and large swathes of Twoth (specifically Dredd, Nemesis, Strontium Dog, Nikolai Dante, Slaine, Leviathan, Caballistics Inc., The Ballad of Halo Jones and Button Man).  That list could be twice as long.

I know there are a few superhero books there and I have said a lot about my dislike of the genre - these books are just so good that they got around me.  That little lot, and Preacher for that matter, have tons of goosebumpage for your enjoyment (if I could be bothered I'd get a link to the Ennis written tribute to Twoth where he just lists TONS of excellent moments).

Like I say, it's all personal taste.  Nice chatting with you BoJirch.
