HA HA!

"line up your own cameo" - I'm in stitches.  This thread is ace.  Loving the debate.

And I'd agree, I reckon a collection of this stuff would be pretty nice actually.  Perhaps timed to conincide with the beginning of Rennie's next arc?  [/pleadingpuppydogeyes]

His death needs to mean something if it were to happen.

And I worry that, were he to actually die, there'd be nothing to root John in the real world and give him hope, normality and his only REAL friend.  He'd either spiral out of control or kill himself.  Be interesting to see how it turned out, but I'd probably cry more for Chas' death than John's.

He also looks a shitload like my brother.

Dan Abnett has restrint and can write Twoth stories well.  Ennis is a talented fella, but he admits himself he's not very good at Twoth and particularly Dredd as he's too reverential towards it.

I really liked that page in Sin Dex, very nicely handled.

Johnny, that's pure class.

I can see that on a t-shirt.

Weigh ARSOM.

I feel like Alan Moore feels towards DC.  I have been USED LIKE A COMMON DOXY.  With or without a bicycle.

I like nudity, and I'm not offended by female body parts being flashed at me
I couldn't agree more.

Let's all take off our clothes and find naked ladies!

Precisely.

Non-achievers tend to obsess about OTHER non-achievers.  The thicker the better so the idiot in question isn't made to feel stupid (i.e. confronted with reality).

I have to say I like "Shady Cat" too.  Humming "The Stray Cat Strut" now.

Millar works for lots of people but not for me.  I like Mills and many are incredibly vocal about their dislike of his work.  Can't see the point of bellowing "HE'S SHIT" "HE'S ACE" back and forth.  THIS thread is how such differences of opinion should be approached.  Nice work Sir.

The art is indeed brilliant.

Chas was a missed opportunity - good bits, but the dialogue was a little off and, like you said, it wimped out.  Kind of a weak ending too, but I'd like to see more Chas.

On that subject: I had a letter published in the Hellblazer letter collumn back in the Jenkins era where I proposed the idea of Chas taking a storyline without John, but that was the one bit of my letter that didn't see print.

I'm still awaiting my cheque.  *sniff*

Rogue always struck me as a kid's strip compared to the likes of Dredd/Slaine/Strontium Dog.  Nothing wrong with that.  Be nice to see the more grown-up approach attempted with "The War Machine" and "Cinnabar" continued.

I've said it before, but (alongside Rennie's work) Cinnabar is my favourite Old Rogue story which is odd as Smith doesn't normally work for me.  I'd really enjoy seeing him give the whole concept a reboot from scratch without any attempts to either 1. lose the biochips and thus have the whole thing in near silence or 2. make it into a goofy disco-dancing WW2 strip with four identical characters.

Personally I'd still prefer Smith to revive Friday and treat everything AFTER the War Machine as if it never happened and find a GOOD way to reintroduce Eightball, Top and Lucky.

Monarch saves me the trouble.  I can't think of anything they missed out of those collections.  Apart from the book 9.5 they never wrote I mean.

Can I just reiterate what TordelBack said - I'm really glad you've posted, these are very interesting thoughts.  Thanks James.

I agree about Millar & Ennis by the way and I see what you mean, even if I don't agree about it actually being that bad.  Some of the notes you mention ring a little off, but mostly I think this stuff would work better if Gordon had been able to stick around and write the stories it was so obvious he was building towards.

Books & Comics / Re: Star Lord, Toxic! and Crisis...

Good point, Revolver was just 7 great little issues and a Hallowe'en special.  Loved it, even if I didn't quite get why they didn't inject Crisis with an anti-bonoism gene and a sense of humour and just publish those strips in it.  Like they did with the rear-end of Dare by Huges and Morrison.

For me, Toxic was a mixed bag, but I really liked Mills' "Accident Man" - huge fun.
