Love Band of Brothers and The Pacific, now HBO launching another WWII miniserie, Masters of The Air

Following on from Band Of Brothers and 2010's The Pacific, it appears we won't have to wait nine years for another Spielberg/Hanks war joint. Nope, this time out they're interested in the enlisted men of the Eighth Air Force, known colloquially as the Mighty Eighth.

The pair has the rights to Donald L Miller's book Masters Of The Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought The Air War Against Nazi Germany, which follows the Mighty Eighth as they carried out bombing runs in France and Germany and engaged in air to air combat. The Eighth survives to this day as a key US fighting force.

It's early days for the project: HBO is developing the idea along with Spielberg and Hanks, but it'll be a while before we see it. Hopefully some of the regular collaborators on the last two miniseries –including Graham Yost, who now runs Justified – will sign on quickly now the props are beginning to spin.

If this message get to Urban or his agent/families, want to say many thanks for your brilliant acting/performance of Judge Dredd! You are the Dredd!

And why I am posting it, as Total Film got new feature about Oscars 2013 15 shameful snubs, guess what at number 15?

Best Actor – Karl Urban (Dredd)

If Daniel Day Lewis can be nominated for his perfect representation of Lincoln, then why can't Karl Urban for his dead-on impersonation of Judge Joe Dredd?

And if you're talking about acting challenges, there aren't many tougher tasks than building a character who has the top half of his head hidden for the duration of the movie.

Again, it's not like we were expecting this one, but in a perfect world, Urban would be practising his speech as we write this.

We'd hope it would make use of the word 'creep.'

Film & TV / Evil Dead - (Evil Dead 4 or Reboot!)
08 January, 2013, 09:11:39 AM
As post these in Trailer Thread, as it looks like very scary to watch! I post two trailers again as notice interesting fact about the production below...

Trailer 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxLjqazSmQo

Trailer 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHDJm1D2ELw

What is amazing is the quotes from director, is that no CGI effects in the new film! Sounds crazy but fun!

Fede Alvarez, the director behind the upcoming "Evil Dead" remake, is extremely proud of one particular fact about his film - there is not a single instance of CGI (computer effects). Alvarez talked with io9 about doing the film entirely practically with make-up and prosthetics:

"We didn't do any CGI in the movie. There's no CGI in the movie. Everything you will see is real, which was really demanding. This was a very long shoot, 70 days of shooting at night.

There's a reason people use CGI it's cheaper and faster, I hate that. We researched a lot of magic tricks and illusion tricks. [Like] how you would make someone's arm disappear. There's a moment where a girl goes through her arm with a kitchen knife — spoiler alert.

We knew since day one the camera would start wide, she goes for the knife, you see her arm, she starts going for it. And you think they're going to cut away at any moment, but we don't. She just goes for it and screams and the arm breaks and falls.

So we really pushed the boundaries there, trying to create those illusions... It has a particularly bloody ending. The last scene is just...I want it to be the bloodiest scene, ever. And I think it is.

Film & TV / Dark Justice League film?
02 November, 2012, 02:42:59 PM
OOh I like that... very original?

Guillermo del Toro has long hinted that he'd like to direct another comic-book adaptation, and with Warner Bros extremely impressed by his work on Pacific Rim, the studio has apparently invited him to take his pick from their roster of available studio projects.

However, del Toro has not opted for the seemingly obvious choice of helming Justice League, but has another comic-book adaptation in mind. One devised entirely by himself...

Del Toro's idea is to combine a number of DC's magical, monstrous and ghostly superhero properties into an all-new team-up movie, tentatively titled Heaven Sent.

The film would draw upon characters such as Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, The Spectre, Deadman, Phantom Stranger and many more to create a whole new property to rival both Justice League and The Avengers.

Naturally there are a whole heap of legal hurdles to be overcome before this can become a reality, but Warner Bros reportedly has its lawyers attempting to disentangle the various rights agreements to work out whether such a project would be possible.

Whether it comes to pass or not, it's certainly one of the more original approaches to a comic-book license in recent years, and would be a great way of giving some under-used characters some welcome exposure. Over to you, Warner...

Wow... which scene is Number 1 of 10 Powerful Movie Scenes That Will Stay With You Forever!

http://whatculture.com/film/10-powerful-movie-scenes-that-will-stay-with-you-forever.php/10

1. Dredd – The Balcony

Despite the film's poor box office return I guarantee it has provided a scene so memorable and iconic that it will become movie legend alongside the bigger boat of Jaws and the Zed's dead of Pulp Fiction.

The Peach Trees tower block has been locked down by criminal boss, Mama, because Judge Dredd has captured one of her gang members and if he cracks under interrogation then her reign will be over. So with the block in lockdown and hundreds of armed gang members, Dredd is in the sh*t. Or so Mama thought.

In a totally mental scene, her lackeys pull up Gatlin guns, aim across the open court, and blast the hell out of the block where Dredd is hiding. Several moments and massacred innocents later, with the block in ruins and billowing smoke filling the building, she sends in her right hand man, Caleb, along with more goons, to check Dredd's dead.

We see what she sees – nothing but acrid smoke. We hear what she hear – gunshots. And then, through the smoke we see......

Caleb screaming, wide-eyed in terror, pushed forward by Dredd. Without hesitation, Dredd hurls him over the balcony to the floor several hundred metres below. When Mama finally manages to pick her jaw off the floor, we see the most kickass sight: Dredd disappearing back into the smoke.

And that is when she realises: he's not locked in with them, they're locked in with him!

Like I said, it encapsulates all the sensations of the previous 9 scenes: wonderment, disbelief, amazement, horror, joy and spine tingles as Dredd – without uttering a single word – provides the most startling badass image and characterisation ever committed to celluloid. Upon watching it, I knew I'd seen something very special. I knew I'd remember where I was the day I saw it. And you will too.
