It's all about the fins.

I thought the "fin" at the end of the story was a very nice touch.

But yeah, three stories running at the same time with strong elements of folk horror and big freaky monsters... I can understand how that might not be some people's cup o' tea but I can't really complain.

One or two page gag strip, and was itself a reprint from Cor!! comic.

I don't think any of Tales From The Grave has been reprinted yet, has it?

I had some vague knowledge of the character. I think I'd seen a film or two on telly when I was very much younger but can't remember anything whatsoever about them. I just know he got stored in the same murky recesses of my mind as Bulldog Drummond and Dick Barton.

I really liked this special though. Entertaining, old-fashioned (in a good way) pipe-smoking-British-detective-who-punches-folk-a-lot stuff, and very well presented.

2209 has also now turned up here.

Shoosht... I'm seeing if I can use it to recreate The Hay Wain.

No, really, I was. Compare and contrast...

It's a bit "expressionistic".

I decided to wait a few more days and 2208 has shown up today.

Still no 2208 here. I'll report it tomorrow.

Ditto if it doesn't show up.

To be fair, dolphins are pricks.

Simon Bowland suggested he be more respectful of other creators. Mills told him to “fuck off”.

...and wondered how Pat could form an opinion if he hadn't even read what he was slagging off, which I've noticed Mr. Mills seems to have a habit of.

The Misty reprint special from 2009 was when I first really noticed him doing that. Tore into it, going on a tirade about how it was everything that was wrong with the comic after he was no longer involved with it and then said he hadn't actually read any of it.

There's nothing "ostensible" about it. I've a cousin who's been left with an enlarged heart because of it. There was sod all wrong with him before.

My copy of 2207 didn't show up until yesterday, so I wasn't expecting 2208 to be particularly punctual.

I got my copy through the door earlier, not only bent down the middle by the postman in spite of the "PLEASE DO NOT BEND!" message, but also with a rubber band around it. Fortunately, the brunt of the bendage seems to have been borne by an extra copy of part 2 of the 2000 AD encyclopedia. Tharg the all-knowing has clearly pre-empted the Royal Mail's wanton attack.

These stories stretched me and made me think of the world in a different way. I can’t see why the Regened progs can’t strive to do the same.

Like a story in which everybody assumes the weird alien beasty is evil when it's actually just trying to warn people of an approaching danger?
