The egg-based spectrum classic, or are you just spinning round in your chair?

Bit of both.

Ah, Dizzy. A £2.99 number as I recall? What did you call the software company that put those £1.99 and £2.99 casettes out? I think they're still big news, now...

Yep. Codemasters.

I've been downloading some fan-games from here...

Quote from: pauljholden on 03 April, 2010, 07:57:21 PMWhat have they done to the theme tune? Starts off terribly but at least ends strong
Also: not sure they needed the dramatic swirly-whirly time stuff for the tardis with lightening...

I liked the new version of the theme tune and the swirly-whirly lightning intro. Thought it added something different while at the same time harking back to older versions, (in much the same way the new Tardis design does).

Thought the Doctor was more Doctorish and I like the new assistant's amusingly convincing facial expressions but... yes, the incidental music is still far too overblown and there's still too much "isn't Doctor Who just totally brilliant at everything?" stuff, particularly from the Doctor himself.

Well written so far, (though not an amazing story), and I liked the idea of someone praying to Santa.

There's something I'm curious to know. During the flashback, were the 'old-style' shoulder pads mentioned in the script or did Guy add that detail himself?

Film & TV / Re: Monkey: remake!
30 March, 2010, 04:16:34 PM
BAH! Did anyone at all read what I said? It's not a remake of Monkey.

Monkey was Japanese. This is Chinese. The Chinese have made hundreds of versions of Journey To The West both before and after Monkey ever existed. There are clips from a film version from the sixties on Youtube somewhere, but you'll probably have difficulty finding them among clips from numerous other versions.

The Chinese versions always have Tripitaka, (or Xuanzang), played by a man and their versions of the other characters normally have more animalistic attributes.

The recent Japanese version that ThryllSeekyr mentioned could more accurately be called a remake and a familiar-looking actor turned up in one of the episodes...

...and while we're on the subject, here's a clip of a reunion between some of the actors from the original Monkey in 2006, I don't think I need to point out who's who...

This is disturbing. Ir's like finding out what the voice-cast of Futurama actually look like.

This has Scooby-Doo-esque Hanna Bsrbera cartoon written all over it.
