I can't see any similarities between Margaret Hilda Thatcher and Hilda Margaret McGruder.

Scratch that... Turns out that's not accurate either, (stupid internet...). First female national newsreader in the UK was Barbara Mandell, (at ITN, no less), back in 1955.

Tch... 'Facts', eh?

Contrary to this week's Thrill-Mail, Anna Ford was not the first female newsreader in the UK in 1978, she was just the first one at ITN.

Angela Rippon's even in Prog 1, for drokk's sake... Use yer ram-sticks!

(Actual first Female UK newsreader was Nan Winton, back in 1960, if you're wondering.)

It's humour.

You were obviously having a laugh. I can't quite believe they weren't.

It wasn't that obvious. I'm usually quite good at picking up on that stuff and I wasn't sure, (although it wouldn't be the mentallest opinion I've read on the internet today, so my disbelief settings may be slightly lower than usual).

Alternatively, if you do a google search for 'Rosalind Peterson', the second thing listed is a youtube video of a segment from a radio phone-in, in which she herself says that she has no direct proof of jets releasing anything into the atmosphere other than jet fuel emissions, (and some military chaff), despite a decade of research.

If anyone's intentionally trying to alter the weather up here, they're not doing a very good job of it, (unless they're going for the confusingly random mess we've always had anyway).

Reminds me of that old episode of South Park in which Big Gay Al is made to leave his position as scoutmaster, only to be replaced by a more traditionally masculine individual, who then turns out to be a paedophile.

Only having three channels 'til the 1980s is the most important factor here, I think.

Here's a minor impediment... I am allergic to monosodium glutamate. I have known this for a while and try my best to avoid anything containing it. If I don't, I will normally end up with scintillating scotoma, which is unpleasant but usually passes within half an hour.

Thing is, in spite of hundreds of thousands of people reporting the same symptoms along with other migraine related stuff when they consume msg, some, (but not all), scientific studies have failed to show a link. This means you'll get articles popping up every now and again saying how there's definitely no such thing as msg allergy, closely followed by loads of comments from people saying there definitely is, followed by comments from other people calling the sufferers idiots, (or more unpleasant names), because 'science'.

Now, if there really isn't such a thing as an allergy to msg and it's all based around false equivalency, then I must surely have psychic powers, because I also get the weird visual anomalies when I've inadvertently eaten the stuff after not previously noticing it hidden away in the ingredients under a yeast-based pseudonym, like in that packet of Walkers prawn cocktail crisps I ate on an empty stomach earlier.

I had so much fun finding all the Easter Eggs in the hieroglyphics.

Yep...

(Just realised that the picture above takes up 6.66 kilobytes. Not sure if I should be amused or concerned.)
