There's definitely aspects of Chicago with all the gangstery stuff, but Gotham's actually a 19th century nickname for New York, (originally coined by Washington Irving, apparently), with various establishments in New York using the name for years, one of which being where Bill Finger supposedly got the name from.

New York, New York.

They're both New York.

Metropolis is bright, shiny, summery New York.

Gotham is dark, stinky, wintery New York.

Out of interest, where should we send submissions?

The merjeagles @ yahoo.co.uk address I already mentioned, (without the spaces), or
ghastlymcnasty @ backfromthedepths.co.uk (without the spaces).

Highlander 2 apparently wasn't released in Australia until 1992, so it is possible you got the soundtrack about a year before that.

Jesus Christ...

Yes, I suppose you could call him a spiritual presence...

ThryllSeekyr, every time something goes missing you apparently jump to the conclusion it's been stolen by someone, and then it usually seems to turn up later down the back of a chair or under a pile of stuff on the floor, so I'm going to suggest a hypothesis based on the evidence you've supplied to us.

Pehaps someone isn't breaking into your home to steal things before changing their mind and returning them later. Perhaps your relatives weren't moving your stuff around in an annoying way. Maybe you're just not as good at keeping track of your belongings as you think you are.

And maybe when people suggest you take medication, they're doing it out of genuine concern for your mental well-being because you can sometimes come across as a wee bit paranoid on here, (especially when you talk to the thieves directly, thinking it's possible they're reading your posts).

Now, I'm not saying your stuff isn't getting shifted about the place by poltergeist pixie things trying to mess with your head, (god knows there've been some weird things happen to me before), but the most logical explanation is usually what's actually happening, the most logical explanation in this case being that you might be misplacing the items yourself.

...and don't worry, I haven't 'outed' anyone. They haven't been around on here for ages, but she's mentioned it elsewhere.

It comes to something when this is the only way to get more women on the forum. ;) hehe

Wouldn't be the first time, neither. I was once slightly bamboozled when an infrequent poster changed their avatar to a photo of themself. "That's strange", thunk I, "I was sure that person was a hairy bloke, not a pretty lady".

It took several minutes more than it probably should have for the penny to finally drop.

I'll be sticking up the general submission guidelines within the next few days, but before I do that, does anybody fancy having a go at the front cover for the next issue? A4 dimensions. You've got until October. It's a small press thing, available for free online, so you won't be getting any money, but you'll obviously keep the copyright to the artwork.

It can be any kind of random freaky monster beasty, (or beasties), or ghosty thing, (or things), but something a bit different from what's already appeared would be preferred. Here are the previous covers...

You can get a better look at them HERE, where you can also download the issues.

Don't worry about doing the text/logos, I'll add them later.

We'll probably also use any artwork we don't pick, inside the issue as part of a 'gallery', so if you've got more than one idea you want to render or other scary drawings just lying around, you can send them too.

Email to merjeagles @ yahoo.co.uk (without the spaces).

do not see any reason why there shouldn't be room for moody serious superhero movies too. Seems an odd complaint.

An odd complaint for a Batman film, not an odd complaint for a Superman film.

But surely if you want jokey superman go and watch the Christopher reeve movies (which I love). If you want a different take watch this.  Seems reasonable.  I've read plenty of humourless, serious superman comics so I don't hold with this " superman is always light hearted" standpoint. It's just not true.

There appears to be room for many different takes on James Bond,  we have two very different takes on dredd, why not superman?

Well, aside from the fact he's a bloke from outer space with X-Ray/heat vision who can defy the laws of gravity and is able to go unrecognised simply by putting on a pair of specs, he's meant to stand for something - he's supposed to be a figure of hope and optimism. If you make Superman too moody or too 'gritty', he's in danger of not being Superman anymore, which isn't to say things always have to be light-hearted, or you can't tell serious or meaningful stories, (there's a lot of quite dark stuff going on, even within the Richard Donner version), but the character of Superman himself should always remain roughly the same or it's just not him.

(Bear in mind though, that I haven't actually seen B Vs S yet, so I'm only going by the gist of what I'm picking up from other folk's reviews 'n' comments.)
