Outside Asda, in the car, whilst my wife struggles round the shop with a trolley-load of shopping!

I've only ever read about two episodes of Wolfie Smith, and with Ian Gibson on art, I'm looking forward to it already.

Grud! Not Slaughterbowl. What sort of sociopath would want to reprint that? Wasn't it dross like this, Time Flies, Revere, Kelly's Arsehole and pish from this era that drove us away in multitudes back in the day? I hope it's not that- I'd rather eat my own head than read it again so soon after it first came out.

I'll probably still buy it though!

Stainless Steel Rat would be pretty good, and Blacklight was pretty good too, though it's not that long since I got hold of the progs from that era and read them. Garp deserves a 'Case Files' all to himself- a Captains Log (can't remember what the Space Truckers slang for that is). I must be about the only one that quite liked the last of the Ace stories then. Total madness that was the same fuel as Robohunter ran on. The one with the chickens was funny. Which story had the Bams in it?

Suggestions for EE...
ahem...

RETURN TO FUCKING ARMAGGEDON!

I'm going to keep repeating it until Tharg gives in. Let's face it, I don't think it's ever been collected as a GN, and it's a stand alone series which deserves reprinting for the artwork alone. Come on greenbonce- you owe me, I bought the EE's with Revere and Time Flies, even though I knew they were both utter shit!

That's not entirely fair about the noses - Sometimes the characters don't actually have noses at all.

Heh! Heh! Touche!

MANGA: It's not all big eyes and tiny mouths.

Correct- It's all big eyes, tiny mouths and pointy noses!

admittedly I haven't read that much- but I've skim read an awful lot more. It all seems to be centred around sweaty teen angst, relationships between fairly archetypal characters and the bad guy always turns out to be the main characters dad, or brother. I'm sure it can't all be like this, but hey-ho I can't be arsed finding out because I can't stand the style of art. I know there is variety within this, but there is an overiding stylistic to it. If there is no difference between 'Manga'- meaning Japanese comics, and comics from anywhere else- then why is it that authentic Japanese is automatically better than lookalike work by other nationalities. There is a double standard in that line of argument.
I don't like it...
irrational? Perhaps,
unreasonable? Probably.
but then, i make no claim to being rational or reasonable. Perhaps I was abused by a large eyed, pointy nosed, small mouthed teenager when I was very young- and s/he (sometimes it's hard to tell with Manga) turned out to be my evil twin. (No wait a minute- I'm the evil twin!)

Heh! Heh! I was only messing about- but seriously, if there is a market for it, why not?.. but not in the Meg! In fact, if it will keep the damned stuff AWAY from the Meg and 2k altogether- I'm all for it.

Savage and (IMO, and I may be the only one) Black Siddha are well worth Mills' weight in peh's and butteries!
ABC's were always a bit lightweight as far as I'm concerned- often played for laughs. I'm not sure that Pat is the best at comedy scripts. That's not to say I haven't enjoyed them- I have, mainly.

As long as he keeps Savage and Siddha cracking, there'll be no need for him to look out his bucket and squeegee. (Don't do it, Pat- think of your knees!!!)

I'd like to see manga retire- it's old, it's tired and it's too samey. Bin it.

Do him like a spectre- when he swaps from body to body. Then you just need to paint him different shades of blue-grey!
