Is it just possible that in the future portrayed in SD, cross-culturalisation has lead to a blurring of the US and UK accents?

Obviously, the scots accent would remain the same as there are some stubborn bastarts up there ;)

UESP says that's a known bug:

QuoteKrish may become stuck or frozen once the last grahl has been killed.

This can be fixed with console commands - open your console, click on Krish, and type:
SetPos, x, 370
SetPos, y, -178
SetPos, z, -117.

It may not happen with anything else, as nothing else may push your system as hard as Morrowind does.

Try: Right-click My Computer, select Properties, select Hardware, select Device Manager.  Scroll down to
Universal Serial Bus Controllers, open the plus sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, scroll down the list to USB Root Hub and highlight.  Right-click that entry and choose Properties.  A window will open with four tabs.  Choose Power Management.  The page should say USB Root Hub and below that, should be a box ticked for "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power"  Untick that box and close.  Close all dialog boxes, including Device Manager.

The other thing you can try is uninstalling the mouse driver...that'll often fix things.

That does sound like a hardware issue - faulty USB connection on your laptop, possibly?  Try plugging your mouse into another USB slot and see if that fixes it.

Another thing you can try is adjusting your computer's power settings - if it's set to a "power saving" setting, then it might be trying to conserve power by switching off the USB either after a period of inactivity or if the pc is being pushed harder than usual.  Are you on Windows 7, or Vista?

Do you know your Steam account name?

To reset a lost password:

- Launch the Steam application on your computer.
- From the Steam Login dialog, click the "Retrieve a lost account..." button.

1) If you do not know your Steam Account name:

Select the I don't know my account name. option and click Next.
- Select an item of information, preferably the account's contact email address.
- Enter the contact email address on record with Steam to have Steam Support email your Steam Account name to this address.
- Repeat the initial step in this process and, upon receiving the email message containing your Account name, select the "I know my account name" option. Or, if you didn't receive this email message, Contact Steam Support.

2) If you know your Steam Account name:

- Select the I know my account name. option and click Next.
- Enter your account name in the Account name field and click Next.
- Check the contact email address for your Steam account for an email containing your Verification Code and Secret Question. If you didn't receive this email message, Contact Steam Support.
- Enter your verification code and the answer to your secret question in the Verification code and Secret answer fields respectively, then click Next.
- Steam will next require you to select a new password. Enter your new password twice to confirm the change, then click the Next button to reset your password.

I suspect that what has happened, is that the game you bought for your friend is still in your Steam Inventory - once you can get signed in to Steam, you can then go to you Inventory and gift it to your friend from there...but we'll see to that when we get to that stage :)

QuoteTomb Raider

Would be amazing if they had replaced the horrible quick time events with actual tombs to raid.  :(
Gah, I was hoping they'd done away with those.  I bought the complete Tomb Raider collection on Steam, and am still making my way through them - Tomb Raider 1 and 2 are still my favourites (number 2 in particular, as it was my first TR game that I bought when it was new), and I still can't get to grips with the control system implemented by Crystal Dynamics when they took over...I try to get her to go one way, and she ends up going another.

I'm up to Anniversary now - as of Legend, I've given up on the boss fights, they're really not my thing, and are just frustrating - so am cheating to skip those once I've got a feel for how annoying they are.

Not a fan of QTEs either.  Make up your mind, either give me a cutscene to watch, or let me play the game properly.

Was really hoping that the reboot would be more to my taste - but from what you're saying, it seems like more of the same but without the tombs? :(

Known bugs:

The Ristaag quest can be broken if you say goodbye to Rolf before doing the "ensure our success" topic, causing him to say "Shhh... we must hunt..." with no further options.

This bug is fixed by the Morrowind Patch Project.
Get it from http://btb2.free.fr/files/morrowind_patch.zip

If this is what you did, you need the Unofficial Morrowind Patch - but not sure if this will fix the issue once encountered (sometimes the patches only prevent bugs from happening in the first place, not fix them once they have happened).  Do you have a savegame from before you spoke with him regarding the Ristaag?

QuoteEh... Well now last time it didn't....
Does that mean you're able to log into Steam now?

Well, let's get that fixed then!

What happens when you log into Steam yourself - does it recognize your password?

Great!

Remember the Skaal well - you'll be visiting Solstheim again, 200 years in the future, if you get around to playing Skyrim and its DLC, Dragonborn...

UESP says:

Quote
Notes:

Sometimes when you complete the trial Wind-Eye may not be in the same place on the northern shore of the lake or found anywhere else. If you go back to the Skaal Village and talk again to Heart-Fang at the Great Hall about the quest and get him to repeat where Wind-Eye is located, when you go back to the lake he should have returned to his previous position.

Bugs:

When receiving this quest from Heart-Fang, make sure to select "prove your strength" and receive the journal entry before speaking to Korst in his hut; otherwise Korst will not appear at the lake to complete the quest (remaining in his hut), and after the werewolf attack in the next quest, will disappear altogether.

I'll be surprised if this bug isn't fixed by the unofficial patches, but if it isn't fixed, try going back to Heart-Fang in the great hall and getting him to repeat the shaman's location and see if that works.  If not, the next step would be to use the console to move him to you and/or to use "setstage" to force the quest to be finished, enabling the next quest.  But try speaking with Heart-Fang again first.

If you're stuck offline and need immediate assistance, the book might be worth a punt, but everything in it and anything else you could want to know can be found for free on the UESP.

QuoteAm now able to take a look at the 30+ steam games I have purchased in the interim but not played yet.
So what are the other games in your library to choose from, if you decide to give up on Rage?

QuoteIt is everything you could want from a game about pirates!
Does it have insult sword-fighting and a three headed monkey then? ;)

1) Official patch page:
http://support.bethsoft.com/patches.php

Firstly you should install Bloodmoon if you're planning to and haven't yet (as the other patches won't work properly without it), then the one you want from that page is the European version of the Bloodmoon-compatible patch - http://download.zenimax.com/elderscrolls/morrowind/patches/Bloodmoon_v1.6.1820.exe

2) You then want the Unofficial Patch - made by members of the modding community - fixes many hundreds of bugs that the official patch by Bethesda doesn't fix.  You can get the latest version (1.6.5b) from http://btb2.free.fr/files/morrowind_patch.zip

3) Finally, you want the Unofficial Code Patch.  This fixes many game engine bugs that the other patches are unable to fix, and prevents and allows fixes to savegame corruption.  You can get this from http://download.fliggerty.com/download-58-139

You'll need all three patches (installed in that order) in order to have the most bug-free and stable version of Morrowind.
Note: If you want to install Tribunal at any stage, hold of playing Morrowind until you can get that - if you're quick you can get the expansion disc off ebay for £2.99 including shipping http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xmorrowind+tribunal&_nkw=morrowind+tribunal&_sacat=0&_from=R40.  If you want to do that, then install Tribunal first, then Bloodmoon, then the patches.

As for Hard Hart, that's a bug :(
You'll need to hit him first.  The UESP says
Quote
He may not outright attack you but demand to know if you've killed the Thieves Guild bosses yet. You may have to attack him (or use the console) to fight him but you should not draw a bounty or be expelled from the Fighters Guild (if you are near other Fighters Guild NPCs, they will become hostile with you if you provoke the fight).

QuoteA friend of mine has bought me the Bloodmoon expansion pk.  Do I have to have tribunal first ? ( the game instruction say it is ok but...
I bought and installed them in order of release (Tribunal, then Bloodmoon) so I don't have any firsthand knowledge, but if you're planning on playing Tribunal at any stage, you should do so first, as I did a quick forum search and this advice popped up:
Quote
no you don't need tribunal to play bloodmoon BUT if you have both of them then you need to install tribunal before bloodmoon since bloodmoon holds the most up to date patch for the game, which is why people state it gives them errors.

In other words:

Morrowind + Tribunal = Fine

Morrowind + Bloodmoon = Fine

Morrowind + Tribunal + Bloodmoon = Fine

Morrowind + Bloodmoon (Installing it first) + Tribunal = Can lead to errors

Make sure you grabbed the correct patch for your version of Skyrim (ie. the European patch, and if you don't have the expansions Bloodmoon and Tribunal make sure you don't have the patch that supports them).

QuoteEven though I have killed all the vampires in that building?
Vampires will probably respawn too - generic spawns tend to respawn on cell reset (a "cell" is just a term for an area) in Elder Scrolls games - could be anywhere from in-game days to in-game weeks.  Even if the vampires don't respawn there, you could just roleplay that they were out hunting when you visited ;)
