In a few years time, when physical media is a thing of the past, buying Christmas presents is going to be even more of a nightmare. What will I get everyone without the standard fallback of DVD box sets?

I predict that this, coupled with the ongoing economic meltdown, will result in the 'tangerine in a sock' making a big comeback.

I quite enjoyed that - really liked Rita, she would have made a good companion. The monster was well done too which makes me think it's bound to be used again at some point. These costumes don't come cheap!

I agree that the music undermined things in this episode.

Next week looks ok but I really don't like James Cordon and I wish the BBC would re-design the Cybermen again - these ones are rubbish! (I'd go back to one of the earliest designs and pimp it up a bit - like they did with the gold Dalek).

Bicycle couriers are not cool. Not even with added explosions.

I'd rather watch BMX Bandits again!

Film & TV / Re: 3D - is the party over?

Some films benefit from 3D. Avatar and Tron spring to mind. The trouble is that studios seem to think that every blockbuster warrants it when they don't. Captain America really didn't need the 3D aspect at all and it just adds £3 on the ticket price - meaning that people can afford to see less films.
In an ideal world 3D would be a tool which can be used or not as a director chooses and the use of 3D would not affect the ticket price.

I'd like one of these:

But I don't think I'm likely to get one!

I'd also like Batman: Arkham City, Forza 4 and Skyrim (I've pre-ordered Assassin's Creed) but they're all pretty expensive and I feel a bit guilty asking family members to shell out anything more than about £15.

I'll probably end up with some books and TPBs.

I'm related to Cliff Robinson.
His Mum was my Grandmothers cousin (I think - something like that). I've never met him or anything but I met his mum at a funeral when I was about 12 or 13. She was impressed that I was a fan of his art but complained that he didn't get paid enough!

I thought the trailer was a bit lame - it looks like one of those Sci Fi channel films.

I notice someone called 'phantom cutter' has re-edited it and to be honest it looks much better: http://vimeo.com/27222153

Then I watched someone's attempt at a Preacher film which is hilariously bad and reminds me of some crap student films I had to watch in the mid-nineties. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QSjQ5QFhAQ&feature=player_embedded

Lovely cover this issue.

I thought Dredd was a little talky for this as a jumping on issue. Anyone whose interested in Dredd had been aroused by the recent Empire stuff could well have been put off. It would have been a wise move to schedule a few 'Dredd busts some heads' stories around this jumping on point in my opinion.

Ampney Crucis is a strange one. I don't mind the story but I don't like the characters. I also find Simon Davis' art really off putting on this story although I loved it on Sin/Dex. I wish someone would take his purple paint away though - not everything has to be coloured in purple! Again I don't think this was a great 'jumping on' story.

Indigo Prime was my favourite this issue. Great art and a mental, very 2000ad feeling script. Although some prior knowledge of Indigo Prime doesn't hurt I think new readers would be drawn into this - in the hope that things would be explained as the 'newbie' in the story works things out.

Low Life was good but relies almost entirely on previous knowledge of the strip. The empathy comes from seeing Dirty Frank be boxed in by Justice Department protocol. If you don't know what wally squad or the long walk is this strip would be utterly bewildering.

All in all I thought it was a very entertaining prog for a long time reader but had a very poor selection of strips for a jumping on issue. It would have made more sense to have Angel Zero start this issue along with a future shock. Ampney crucis could have had a single part opener next week.

I thought the Dredd 'death' cliffhanger was really cheap and lame. Other than that the plot doesn't really seem to be doing much. I'm not sure the plot's really gone anywhere in the past 3 or 4 weeks.

I always enjoy Savage and I love Patrick Goddard's art. It was great that we got a bit of extra background as to why Blackblood hates Hammerstein so much.

Zombo is sort of fun but I just find it a bit too wacky. It's trying too hard. It's like the comic strip equivalent of Su Pollard.

Sin/Dex is always enjoyable too and I'm interested to see how the new direction of the characters suits the strip.

He was the guy who tried to beat Caeser with a bat and then later got his finger bitten off.
All in all he had a pretty rough time living next door to James Franco!

Guys, guys... let it go!

It probably helps to know I don't even read his posts anymore.  I just skim read enough to be able to wind him up.

Winding me up? Sorry, but you've misinterpreted things again. And thanks for explaining why you didn't understand the argument.

Regards

Robin

Ha ha. Don't let it get you down. Some of us appreciate an intelligent well made point by someone who knows what they're talking about. I've found your posts pretty insightful on the Planet of the Apes and LOEG-1969 threads although you seem to be getting a bit exasperated with certain people and I can understand why.

I thought it was shit. I said it was shit.

I bring balance to the force.

And it was shit.

Yes, three times with added Moffat hate. We got the message last time mate - write to points of view or something.

While I don't agree with Brendan's prophecies of doom and actually think he's a troll (please don't bombard the thread with this shit every week Brendan) I didn't enjoy that episode.

I find River Song really annoying and the numskulls were just stupid.

Next week's episode looks much better - I really hope it is.

I've been playing this today and I have to say, it's bloody brilliant!
I'm not really sure why it's so good - plenty of games let you crawl through ducts and shoot baddies but this just does it so well.

I'm finding the stealth thing really enjoyable in this game - I'm not that good at it but if you get discovered you have a half decent chance of shooting your way out of things and if you manage to get through a section without being discovered it's very satisfying.

I wasn't going to post that in case it's racist, but it's not really is it?
