I was forced by work circumstances to read mine in my car at the side of the road  near to the Hill of Tara, but built an acceptable coke float out of a vanilla ice cream and a can of coke mixed in a Service Station travel mug.  There was some fizzy spillage, but both badge and Prog were spared.

Coca-Cola floats were the acme of luxury in my childhood.  Despite the fact that they could have been easily manufactured from readily available materials at almost any time had we thought to do it, they loomed in our family consciousnesses as a magnificent treats reserved for Special Occasions.  Sounds perfect for the 30th Anniversary, although I might have a Black Bush chaser with that...

I seem to remember, at one point, rather than just my weekly 2000AD, as a comic fan with a low income I was somehow supposed to be able to afford Crisis, Deadline, 2000AD, the Megazine, Best of 2K, Complete JD, Strip, Toxic and some other ones.

Ain't that the truth.  Just as I was beginning an accelerating 6-year slide into serious debt, there were more comics on the shelves than ever.  I was browse-reading Deadline, Toxic and Revolver, dropping Crisis entirely and avoiding the reprint issues.  And I was a hard-core fan from a middle-class background.  It seems nuts in retrospect.

You can kill a guy but actually no-one ever dies in comics. It can be good for sales รข?? look at the death of Superman.

Yeah, the Death of Superman was a triumph alright.  Anyways, last time I looked Johnny was still dead.

The dangers of having a Valentine-themed competition.  Next up:  2000AD characters in the style of Heavy Metal Dredd!

Guys, guys!  While it's always fun to see the Eyebrows back in action, we're surely all singing off the same sheet here?  Everyone is happy to see as many of Johnnystress' excellent pieces as possible, and everyone wants the voting to be fair, even if it is just for fun.  So one vote per piece rather than creator from now on?  Multiple entries increase the chances, but risk splitting the vote.  It's all swings and roundabouts.  Now, if Wils could just pass me some of that popcorn...

Hey, what recent Prog will they be showcasing?  The one with the topless girl pretending to be a Sexmek, the one with the topless giant amazon, or the one with the cloned ten-year olds shooting rapists?  It's really not a very Blue Peter kind of comic, is it?

'Ere, Buttonman, I haven't a blind clue what the answer is, but what the hell is happening in that middle panel?  Where's that arm coming from?

My favourite conspiracy theory is that light-bulbs don't light the room, they such all the darkness out of it. And where is all that darkness going?

I actually bought my first home at least partially because it was in an estate with the improbable name of De Selby.  Truly, Ireland's greatest philosopher.
