I play under the name Radsock, Battlefield 1943 is the prefered game.
I've got one of the last of the original PS3's and haven't had a problem with it.  My 360 on the otherhand Red ringed once in warranty and has just done it again, i haven't bothered to replace it yet and dont particularly feel the need to.

bit further into American Gods now glad you all said it was a slow starter, first couple of chapters didn't really know where it was at but by the time we hit chapter 3
guy eaten by a vagina
I now see.  Seems to have a bit of an early Clive Barker feel at the moment (more DAmnation Game/Weave World than his later kids stuff obviously).
Speaker of Barker whats he working on at the moment (I'm behind in The MEG so I haven't read the interview) I'd heard he's diving back into HArry D'amour/Art novels and gonna do a Stephen King and link his seperate books? any hints in the interview

please note that my synopsis for want of a better word, is in no way official just me putting together any info I've managed to find about the Movie and Game to get a bit of an idea whats coming.  I may be completely off the mark with what the movie is about.
I'm pretty sure there's plenty of deep thoughtful stuff in it, but really all I want to see is kick arse Sci-fi combat between big blue Cat people and what effectivly look like armoured up Powerloaders from Aliens (hey I'm easy to please, I liked Transformers 2  :-*).

not too interested in this, apparently a bit too much like the Estrodrama Greys Anatomy in Space for my liking.
Virtuallity on the other hand is tops, I dont think its been picked up for a season yet which is infuriating as the pilot really ends on a what the fuck is gonna happen next moment.

Does anyone know if Caprica got picked up, that was a decent Pilot/Mini and truelly spoont worthy Cylon stuff at the end "By your command" I waited the whole Galactica reboot for that line.

Pludering evil Earth corporation raping a planet/moon of all it resources, the big 10 foot blue natives (Na'vi) dont like it and start stomping the humans.  Corporations send in Marines (with future battle tech like Mechs, and those Halo looking drop ship thingies from the game screen shots) and new tech which is the Avatar, this is a big 10 foot bio-construction that is just like the Na'vi but has a human conscionus downloaded into it.
The main character is an ex-marine who's confined to a wheel chair and ends up in an Avatar, he goes native and joins the Na'vi.  Mucho arse kicking and future combat happens.
At least I think thats the rough story outline from what I've been able to piece together from different articles on the game and effects and stuff.

Should be good but wouldn't count on it being the second coming, they're basicly saying the same thing as they were about Starwars prequals, you know how they can finally create digital characters that look real (which i think they achieved with Lord of the Rings, Gollumn is perfect) you wont be able to tell whats real and whats CGI, the 3D is meant to be quite subdued and used more to give the screen depth rather than make things fly out at you.

Well we have a new Alien movie in the works and the rumopurs are Ridley Scotts going to be involved (in what capacity I'm not sure, producing or directing). Typical prequa;l stuff apparently so dont know how they are goign to do that if the Nostromo was the first encounter with them (no AVP doesn't count, didn't happen wont hear of it happening).
And interestingly Robert Rodrigez is up to produce possibly direct a new Predator movie called Predators, which apparently is to Predator what Aliens was to Alien (see what he did with the title there, Smart  ;)).
So hopefully we will not be getting another one of these abortions too soon, i think Fox figured there was more money in doing the movies seperatly.
Still I did like a couple of bits from the first AVP (particularly the first major A v P showdown) movie but the second was just crap.

Well I Started American Gods yesterday, is it worth it or am i wasting my time (opinionsplease I have 3 friends that have read 2 like 1 said it was a pile of crap).
got the last 2 books of 100 Bulletts but gonna re-read them all before I get onto these last two and some more Fables (absolutly top series, only just twigged the Fables are supposed to be the Jews) and Ex-Machina (i'll take Mayor Hundred if there is no Yorick around)GN's to keep me going.

New Malazan (Steven Erickson) book is out end of the month, Queen of Dreams I think its called cant wait for that.  Epic fantasy at its most EPIC.

Film & TV / Re: Alien 5 finds a director

meh, might be ok but Scott hasn't really done anything outstanding for a while (Robin Hood looks interesting even if a bit Gladiatorish).  I'd prefer James cameron to come back (I prefer Aliens over Alien) and give us Colonial Marines Vs Aliens and all kinds of high tech destruction although from what i hear about Avatar I'll get my fill of Future War when that comesw out.

first post to the new board but just had to say that was damn good.  I like my show dark but towards the end that just went over the top, beyoind anything else that happened and all the debating, Jack killed his only living Grandson (that we know of i suppose, they might pull another one ot when they need to) danm that was harsh.  As a non breeder but uncle of lots when his daughter started to scream in anguish i just misted up (it was dust honestly).  manipulative but effective.

I've only really seen a few episodes from first season and none from second but I'd be interested in seeing more if they can find a way to do it (Jack didn't say he wasn't coming back ever) in the mean time RTD is free to maybee make The Adventures of Gay Jack in the Far Reaches of the Galaxy or some such.

after the top effeort that was Undead (ok it fell apart a bit towards the end but give em credit for trying to do something different with the Zombie genre) and considering how good it looked being made for just $1m this is their new one.
Some one gave em $20m this time and Wetta are helping them with the effects.  Sam Neil, the Green Goblin (Defoe) not too bad a cast either, and a pretty unique (well in film anyway) take on Vampires (sort of like I am Legend (the Book)from the Vampies perspective) cant wait.
how do you do linkies on this board now?
cut and paste below if it doesnt link, its worth it

fracking awsome, gonna need to see it on Blue Ray to see what was going on for half of it though (god I'm getting old, just cant follow the action these days).   brutal fights, lots of shit blowing up, robots tearing each other limb from limb and tearing spines out whats not to love about it, sure you've got Car Car Binks to contend with and humping dogs and no coherent plotting (aside from the info dumps from Jetfire McExposition) but thats not really what I'm looking for in a Transformers movie, if I want something to chew on I'll watch Primer or something.

This thing is already doing huge numbers from what I hear so I guess number 3's gonna be racked up soon.

I dont what it is with all the hate online for this thing it's geeks paradise as far as I'm concerned and if you look at it a certain way not too different to what 2000ad was doing back when it came out.  Just remember when you were 12.
