really enjoyed this, more than Trekkie enough for the hardcore and accesable enough for the mainstream this movie should do huge numbers.
The space combat looks a bit Battlestarish (lots of shaky traking shots of phasers firing) but thats definatly a good thing and I'm sick of complaining about this in movies these days but the damn fist fight s were filmed in that ADD style so in vouge these days, you cant se whos puching who grrrrrr.  Only a minor quible on an otherwise great blockbuster movie, had what a lot of movies are missing these days FUN in spades.  i haven't left the cinema smilling so much for ages.

They better get a new one in production quick smart as i left the cinema wanting to see more straight away, either that or do a new series following these guys.

might go see it tonight, preview looked fun and i really didn't mind X3 at all so might enjoy this.  Its funny but it seems to be getting fairly positive reviews in the trades over here but that may be because our boy Hugh's in it and he gets a free pass from the press over here (even Van-hellsing or what ever the hell it was called averaged 3 stars in OZ press all i can say is High Speed Coach chase).
I have heard that its not too different from the work print that was leaked a couple of weeks ago that Fox went to great pains to say that it was so different from, sneaking gits.

this monster has been chewing all my time for the last month and i still haven't scratched the surface.  Road to Indipendance Campagn (the one with the US) is all right but its more of an extended tutorial to teach you the new aspects of the game (like sea trade routes etc).  Spent 30 hours this weekend trying to conquor the world as the United Provinces (well the short campagne anyway) lots of fun, not a big fan of the naval combat as it just gets too hectic when you have a full fleet your trying to control I find it easiest to set all the ships attacking and then take control of a second line ship (86 cannon!!!) personally and blast the shit out of anything that comes near.  The land stuff takes a bit to get used to if you've been playing Medieval 2 as its all guns and black powder so cavalry have a completely diferent task now (instead of being the tanks to crack lines head on you need to use them on the flanks hitting already engaged troopers or send them out to hunt artilery).

all up i can see myself spending a horrible amount of time on it and if i spend even half the time as i did on medieval 2 (over 200 hours) i'll get my moneys worth.  Its a fricken System hog though looks a bit poopy on my little old AlienWare Laptop but at least it plays.

Oh and the greatest gun ever invented was the Puckle Gun just awsome unleashing it on charging cavalry.

News / Re: TV series for classic 2000AD characters!
07 April, 2009, 02:21:07 PM
This is awsome news, no DRedds a bit sad but with all the other characters so mkuch to choose from.  I'm hoping the whole MOtion Comic definition is in the way its presented (anthology format) or because they just dont want to call them Cartoons or Anime and not because they're going to be old Captain America style.  Still anything extra is great and the cement about the rest of the world getting it  is good news for me.

Thankyou Rebellion once again you have proven you know what to do with your comic (though wouldn'tmind an anouncement on the next 2000AD game?)

That looks class, apparantly the director has been having trouble getting it past the studio bigwigs as the main kid Max is not hollywood enough (you know he probably acts ;ike a real kid).
Who of a certain age doesn't remember reading this as a kid?

I dont really have any issue with the music either quite magical

Lost my original post
Onlky thing i didnt like was Starbucks ending taken by god (sorry he doesn't like being called that ;) ) now that her job was done?
And loved the little tag on with Baltar and Caprica Six wandering around at the end.  Remember robots are people too.[/spoiler:1q03kdpa]
my house mate thought the end was balls though.
where to now though my favorite series is gone and i have no idea what to watch next , not sure if Caprica will be my thing but wil give it a go.

The rating in Oz is MA15+ which mean children under 15 must be accompanied by guardian (like i've ever seen it enforced), not to sound like a prude but i've noticed you have to work pretty hard to get an R in Australian cinema's (Wanted MA15, Watchmen MA15) in fact i really cant remember the last time a big release got an R, they dont even have to cut em it seems.
Computer games on the other hand dont even have an R Rating so some games dont get a release over here (Fallout 3 had to be changed befor release and numerouse other adult games) its a fucken shambles.

From Grace
Armour Gideon
oh and Zenith even if i've only read Phase 2 & 3

i'm sure i'll think of more that deserve the list, i'd like to put the one about Phsycadellic Super Heroes from the 60's on with From Grace but cant think of the name of it, wonderfull art like From Grace

oh and Goldpleton there is boobs in it if you look hard enough.  while omn the subject of boobs the movie also has the most inspired use of the song Halejulia (how the f do you spell it?) ever.  Man i just laughed (and felt bad about it too got a couple of dagger looks from other people).

woah that was long,  best we could hope for.  Veryb stylish and way more graphic than i though it would be (considering most of the violence in the comic appears off panel) lots of splintering bones and blood and guts flying everywhere
i always imagined the Docs disintergration as being less messy than how it was done
as for the end its a change but still gets the point accross i think but really couldn't see why they didn't go with the squid it would've been just as believable as what they used IMHO.

I think though Moore has it right his stuff isn't designed to be watched on a screen they are comics through and through and anything you get on the screen just wouldn't be the same.

I'm confused now.  I liked it, its a good adaptation of the original comic but its just not great like the comic and it should be
