Film & TV / Re: Green Lantern (2011) - Update

Not a DC fiend but that looks pretty cool.
QuoteFew more Green Lantern photes though none in costume I'm afraid
I dont think we'll see any of Reynolds in costume as they are doing the suit completly with CGI.
QuoteWhat exactly is the Green Lantern then?  Never got too much into the yank comics but as far as I can see there's loads of Lanterns all over the universe, and they've got rings that make things appear, and they're afraid of the colour yellow (which I discovered in Frank Miller's charmlessly amusing All-Star Batman and Robin).
From my limited knowledge The Green Lantern corps are like an intergalactic police force who guard the galaxy from evil, there's a Green Lantern for each sector of space and the Rings they have allow them to form their will into weapons or some such thing.  i thinks its recently been revealled that they're are more than just the Green Lanterns in the universe there's a whole spectrum of em and their rings all gain power from diffent emotional forces (Red Lantern - Hatred? etc)  right down to the Black Lanterns from the recent Blackest Night story that are powered by Death or somesuch and are basicly Zombies.
Now I think thats the general gist of the Lanterns but as I said I'm not really a DC head so some of thats probably wrong but I'm sure someone with more knowledge can corect it.

october cant come quick enough, hope this does the bussiness and we get a full continuing adaptation of possibly the best Zombie story ever told (well the one I always wanted to see anyway).

That cast looks pretty spot onm, and the chick they've got for Andrea...yum.

Quote
Nightcrawler and Cable
on the other hand are now dead.  I give it two years tops.  Aside:
Cable
, one of the many pointless characters to emerge from the 'mind' of Rob Liefield, actually had rather a good death.
I've been collecting this second coming Xman story and must say I was quite moved by
Nightcrawlers death
thought it was really well done and certainly had an impact on me, but lets face it he's not goign to stay dead.

Games / Re: Xbox Live Arcade

my housemate is currently being sucked in by the actual Xbox Live Arcade, the one where you can set your games up in cabinets and go visit mates arcades put your name in their cabinets its brilliant.  Stilln not a huge selection of arcade games and unfortunatly normal Xbox live games dont work in it (so if you must make an exact replica of your old hangout and you already ownm a game you gotta buy it again).  Also a few too many poor Atari 2600 and Intelevision games that aren't worth the points.

Misfits is a top show but only six episodes im the first season.  Episode 4 (Time Guy)is a belter and episode 5 (Old lady) is too, i scant believe the lack of love for the show on this site i would've thought it'd be right up most board members ally.

QuoteRadbacker, if you liked Robert Jordan's pastiches you will absolutely love Robert E. Howard's stories! Del Rey has them all collected in three cheap volumes (read the story Beyond the Black River first - tremendous).

will do that, I need something to read.

ahh thankyou, I dont really know too much about the character (aside from the fact there have been all sorts of Legal issues with it).
Though I have heard that Mr Moores run on the character was pretty good and a couple of bits of art I've seen look quite nice (in B.W of course).

Manowar rock, though I must say I had no idea they looked like Spinal Tap.

Looks like they have done a bit of stuff to the poster to Blue up his eye's a bit.

The first Arnie Conan movie does indeed rule however the second one is a horrible mess.  Of course I have only recently realised this re-watching them for the first time in 15 years.
I have hope they wont stuff this up and at least make an entertaining movie out of a pretty cool character.

Locust have you ever read any of Robert Jordans Conan books?  if so how do they compare to the originals I quite enjoyed them and wouldn't mind giving the originals a go if similar.

its a pitty i've never managed to sit all the way through Blade Runner without falling asleep as that scene alone should make it worth it but i've tried so many times and just snuff out after they kill the snake replicant.  Oh well I've got it on DVD and might try again tonight thats given me a hankering.

I love Caprica but the final episode of the first half should've been about 6 episodes in to speed things up, a few too many plots going on I'm sure a few will be culled out by the end of the second half of the first season (why dont thay just call it season 1 and season 2 theres a big enough gap between em).
I think Caprica starts again in the US Septemeber or so.

Another series that could've benifetted with some faster pacing and the final episode broadcast midway through is V, boring, boring, boring, awsome last 3 or so episodes. At least it'll be good when it comes back.

Still say Misfits is one of the best new UK series I've seen in a while and episode 4 & 5 (the back to the future episode and the granny lovin episode) are both top of the game writting and acting wise.  Only short season though, 6 episodes but second season coming soon.  I think its on one of your channel 4?
