And so to my comments...

Judge Dredd Another excellent post-Total War story. The twist was quite unexpected, and I look forward to seeing how this plays out.

Second City Blues Not a terrible story. Readable.

Slaine Frankly, the goddess can have her upside down world. It was time that Slaine got back to Tara. And when's Ukko coming back into the stories?

Low Life Nice to see Dirty Frank graduating from a supporting character to being the focus of a story. I just hope he can play guitar...

Nikola Dante Once again, Dante comes in a close second behind Dredd as my favour strip this week. Good story, good art. Nuff said.

And so to my comments...

Judge Dredd Another good story arising out of the aftermath of the Total War storyline.

Second City Blues Still not getting into this story, I'm afraid. Readable, but not gripping.

Slaine This story hasn't turned out as I expected. From this point, it doesn't look like this Pagan goddess has got much going for her (except for the obvious, of course!) To say that she is fickle is an understatement. Siding with the forces of evil simply because she is "bored" hardly seems to be a great advertisement for bring in additional worshippers, even in upside down world. If I were Slaine and was comfronted with such a deity, I wouldn't be too impressed...

Caballistics Inc. Another story I'm having difficulty with. It's all a bit too weird for me. And what's Tom Baker doing at the end of this episode? Are they trying to link the series with Doctor Who as they tried before? The last page doesn't seem to have any connection with the rest of the story at all.

Nikolai Dante In my opinion, the second best story in this prog. An exciting story with great art.

With great relief, Brian realised that he didn't have to outswim the approaching shark - he only had to outswim his two friends.

The years have not been kind to Thatg have they? He looks like Richard Kiel (Jaws) in that pic.

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw that!

{Puts anorak on} The disease you are refering to is called "The Arachnid Gene Virus" which systematically mutates the victims DNA to that of a mutant spider. It was first introduced in Curse of the Spider Woman, which ran for 2 episodes, progs 603-604 (12/3/88 to 12/10/88). The unfortunate victim of this disease was Eleanor Groth, a model citizen, who was later expelled from the city under the anti-mutant laws.

She later came back in Return of the Spider Woman, prog 612 (2/4/89). Completely transformed, she returned to the Big Meg to seek vengeance on her husband for not accompanying her to the Cursed Earth.

Let me also add my congratulations to a great Dredd story. I think Wagner got the mix of the Vienna/Nimrod subplot and the overall Total War/nukes basis of the story right. Flint's artwork really lent a lot to the story as well. Especially stunning was the artwork of the nuke going off in episode Five, with all those poor souls trying to flee and getting incinarated in an instant. Very powerful. All in all, a classic story.

Faces and Lobster Random: I'm afraid I never really got into these stories, but they were readable, and I followed them to the end of their runs.

Red Seas: The second best story of the prog in my opinion. Lots of questions raised, which hopefully will be answered in due course.

And of course, I await for next week's prog!

It's amazing how many of us have opted for the Terminator-type avatar, isn't it?
