Fink Angel? We don't actually know that the torture machine killed him for certain, do we?

Sapphire and Steel. Not so much Sci-Fi, in my opinion, as just f*cked-up and bizarre.

Nice Pic Wils, that's an old style Dredd. A lot of room at the front of helmet which is a bit quirky. Not bad for a quick sketch!

Cheers. The hard part was hiding my doing it from my boss! :) I can bosh out a reasonable profile drawing in a couple of minutes, but full-figure stuff takes me bloody ages.

(pvs wonders if he could steal a finger from several different artists if he cold tansplant them onto his own hand and be able to draw properly - only one way to find out)

This has the added bonus of also maiming and eliminating several of the competition.

Ok. To start the ball rolling on the 'Dredd doodle' whatsit, here's the scribble I did earlier.http://www.btinternet.com/~mr_fingers/scribbles/dredd9-10-02.jpg">

I think that actually defining your own Dredd is quite a difficult thing to do. An artist's natural drawing style and influences (at least initially) will play a major part in how he is interpreted. When I first started back onto the drawing, I was forcing myself  to draw in different styles to see if I'd produce better stuff. This, of course, fell flat on it's face and I've decided to just stick to the way I naturally draw (the Quitely-esque Dredd with the chin-of-doom still makes me cringe).  I now think I've hit the nail on the head with my own personal Dredd, and just hope it's the kind of interpretation that Paul's expecting for the script of his that I'm drawing at the moment.

IMHO, I think that differing types of story require different styles of art, so there should be as large a range of styles and interpretations art-wise as there are script-wise.

(I *was* going to post-up a five minute doodle of Dredd I did before lunch, but I've chickened out. Wuss.)

General / Re: Collecting Stuff
09 October, 2002, 05:54:15 AM
I never really had any 'collectable' stuff. Five of my Dredd mugs are still intact, and are, as always, my primary drinking vessels.

Years ago I bought one on the key fobs, it had something like 'Keys of Justice!' on it or something, but it didn't survive being dropped down two flights of stone steps. As a replacement, my ex thought it would be an excellent idea to buy me one of those hideous bendy ones. Bitch. :)

As for the pin-table; I've only ever seen it in one place, and that was in the Costermonger in Birmingham aaaaaages ago (I still had long hair so it must be knocking on for 10 years ago now). Can't remember that much about actual gameplay as I was usually trollied.

Only piece I've got is Fraze's Death pic from Zarjaz 1. Keep meaning to get more, cause it looks a bit lonely by itself, but I'd have to sell a kidney to be able to afford the stuff I'd generally go for.

I really liked the ending to The Scrap, but it did remind me of the end of Beneath a Steel Sky.

Or even Mike Collins, who's returned to 2000ad and has drawn him before in the Eclipse comics.

I'd be over the moon if Laser Eraser & Pressbutton made a return, especially if Zirk was in it as well. If not in 2000ad, perhaps the new A1.

Karyn sat, crossed legged, deep in meditation on the floor of the sparse apt designated to her at Psi HQ. She had to find out what was 'attacking' female Judges in several sector houses and leaving them in a prolonged state of sexual extacy (several psych-evaluators had already requested transfers).

Drawing a blank, she withdrew her consciousness from out of the city and back into the room to her waiting body. Her eyes flicked open as she heard and sensed the thing that was emerging from the newly opened closet door and filling the room with a sickly purple smoke.

I think it'll be the last, to be honest, considering how long ago these scripts were written.

I've been invited to a birthday party on Saturday night. As well as the customery alcohol, I've been assured there will be cheese and pineapple on sticks. Brilliant!

All it needs is someone to bring a Party-7, a sea of coffee and asti spumanti covering the kitchen floor and to have Formula 30 playing in the background and it's like I'm a teenager again.

Help! / Re: Manix?
19 September, 2002, 08:28:32 PM
IIRC, in the first photo story Manix looked like Terminator-meets-Todd Carty and after a rebuild for story 2 became Terminator-meets-Julian Clary.

The Doomlord photo story was tops, though. As was the Collector. The voodoo one is still creepy to this day.
