Film & TV / Re: Dr Who Christmas Special

Just after watching it, after missing it last night because of work. I had a quick look  around the web when I came home and luckily, some nice chap had uploaded it.

I was very surprised in the direction it took and found it to be a massive improvement over the previous episode. The Time Lords escaping from the Time Lock and The Doctor being able to survive jumped out of a spaceship onto a marble floor, but SBT covers both these points brilliantly. I did enjoy the rest of it though, even his death scene that became a game of spot the character, especially in the Star Wars Cantina. I was also pleasantly surprised that RTD didn't use the opening of the Time Lock, or whatever happened, to bring the full Time War with then.

Film & TV / Re: Avatar - Dec 17th...

Managed to see it a few days ago and found it to be great but nothing spectacular. The story itself is just a retelling of Pocahontas, Dances With Wolves, The Last Samurai or countless other films, but it told relatively well and the characters are well acted. The CG elements of the film disappear after the first 5 minutes and like others I was not able to tell what was and wasn't CG and moreover I didn't care.

I have seen 3D before, in Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas, but unlike them, Avatar was fully 3D and it wasn't animated and after seeing it I can honestly say that I still don't see the need for 3D. To me 3D is a cheap or rather expensive parlor trick, as was said the 3D was there to add depth to the picture and not there to have people pointing spears and trowing things at you. This worked but as my eyes became adjusted to the screen I stopped seeing the 3D as I was in the beginning.

This year I aim to:
1)   Travel,
2)   Discover new music and comics rather then sticking to old favorites,
3)   Improve myself,
4)   Start thinking for myself more.

1) Managed to to get to Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and The Czech Republic
2) I did find some great new music, thanks in part to this board. I also starting reading The Sandman and 1000 Bullets, neater of which i find to be fantastic, but there definitely enjoyable.
3) Got lazy
4) To some extent. Moved back out of my parents house when I got a new job so, I've not really had a choice not to.

Terrible, with the possible exception of Timothy Dalton at the very end. But, it was a struggle to watch from beginning to end.
Good reddens to RTD.
